Shaun hadn't wanted to do it. He hadn't wanted to give up-- because that's what it was. It was disguised as something else, but Shaun wasn't fooled, and he tried to get Glassman to reconsider. But his efforts had been useless. Just like everything else was. Just like everything else would continue to be, from that point on. He hadn't wanted to do it, but when it was clear he had no choice, he committed to his new role, and he pledged to take care of him. To help him. He owed him that much, so he did so without hesitation.
He promised himself that he wouldn't make the same mistake he had with Steve. That he would keep Glassman here. That he would make sure he stayed.
