Peter really was enjoying his life, everything had been working out lately. He was doing great in school, practicing with the decathlon team, building Legos with Ned, having a secret crush on MJ –he was really subtle about it thank you very much- with no more pointless drama balancing his life as Peter Parker and Spiderman, he even got to go to the Avengers compound and spend some time with his mentor/father figure Tony Stark. Yeah, his life was pretty much perfect right now, even though he kept having these weird dreams of a fire.
So naturally, it all had to go to hell. Parker Luck.

Whumptober Day Twenty-Six. Abandonment
There was a very distinct line in Tony’s life.
Before Peter and After Peter.
Before Peter consists of booze and hangovers, of women he can’t remember and ibuprofen every morning, of isolation and heaps of bad emotions drowned in alcohol. Before Peter is guilt and grief and anger and repression. Before Peter is everything Howard was, everything Tony swore he would never be.
After Peter consists of everything else. Of life and smiles and laughter. It’s Dr Seuss books and stuffed animals and toys left all over the living room. It’s baby proofing his lab and having Ice Cream Sundays. It’s good mornings and good nights. It’s learning how to do all the things he never thought he’d learn how to do like cook and bake and clean and care for someone. It’s love, so much love he doesn’t even know what to do with it.

The soulmark will first appear on the fifth year of your birth. It is a minuscule combination of numbers on the underside of your left wrist. It will read left to right in this order: years, months, days, hours, minutes, seconds. Everyone's soulmark varies greatly—some must wait only a few months or days until they meet their soulmate. Others must wait many years.
(Tony turned five on May 29th, 1975. His soulmark appeared at nine a.m.)

When Peter arrives at the ER in the dead of night only to find his aunt has died in a car accident, he's convinced that he's going to be put in the system. Needless to say he's surprised when the staff informs him that they managed to get in touch with May's second emergency contact. He's even more surprised when Stark Industries CEO, Pepper Potts, walks through the door.
On top of trying to process all his grief, Peter will also have to navigate living under the same roof as his childhood hero as well as keeping his Spider-Man persona a secret.

Peter Parker hates Career Day. He doesn't think that will ever change, but I guess having a Genius, Billionaire, ex-Playboy, Philanthropist mentor around might shake things up a little.
Tony shows up at Peter's school trope that should've been a lot shorter than it is.
