The first time a convicted murderer dies of a heart attack in their jail cell, no one thinks anything of it.

It’s an instinctive thing, the kind of reflexive jab they’ve been giving each other since Wei Wuxian came to Lotus Pier. It’s not like it ever hurts Wei Wuxian; even with a spark of Jiang Cheng’s qi behind it, Wei Wuxian has more than enough to flick the force off like a gnat.
canon divergent from ep 24: Jiang Cheng finds out about Wei Wuxian's core. Somehow that doesn't solve everything.

Wei Wuxian, after a series of misunderstandings that deteriorate his relationship with Lan Wangji seemingly for good, decides to reveal the truth about the restoration of Jiang Cheng's core on his own volition. He's entirely prepared to be kicked out of the sect, but not as prepared as he should be for the depth of his family's love and loyalty.
The revelation itself changes nothing, but his siblings' stubbornness and their faith in him might just change everything for the better.

“Ah, Nie-xiong, Lan Zhan is not gay. Wait and see, he just does not know that he likes girls, because he has been too tied up by all these Gusu Lan rules. I will bet you two bottles of The Emperor’s Smile that he is as straight as that fine hair of his.”
Nie Huaisang had never been one to turn down a sure thing, so naturally he accepted that bet.
But for all that denial, Nie Huiasang had never seen Wei Wuxian quite so desperate for someone’s attention, so sure that he could capture it if he just tried hard enough. One of his favourite books of pornography had even been sacrificed to the cause. It was then that Nie Huaisang had decided that it might be necessary to take matters into his own hands, before there were any more unfortunate casualties.

“My lady,” the midwife said. “Congratulations. You have a daughter.”
Madame Jin shook her head. “I need a son,” she said.
“My lady –”
“I’m not doing that again,” Madame Jin said, her voice getting stronger. “I need a son.”
She looked at her loyal maid, who inclined her head.
A knife flashed.
“Congratulations, my lady,” her maid said, pushing aside the midwife’s body with her foot. “You have a son.”
Madame Jin smiled.
