Zagreus drags his feet forward. Bitterness is a heavy weight in his chest and he takes it out on a pebble, only- it’s not a pebble. His foot goes through it with a gasp and Zagreus squints, recognizes in the span of a breath the fuzzy edges of a large, dark gray feather.

V clears his throat, trying to wrestle his body out of a position that feels like it should be on a swimwear catalogue. He manages to make himself sit appropriately, when he suddenly blurts, "I was called Ghost back in the clan."
Goro blinks. V tries for a smile and resists slapping himself on the forehead. Whatever Goro was expecting, it wasn't this. Goro picks at his yakisoba, his scope unforgotten on his lap.
"Ghost?"

There’s a pause where Charon studies his familiar profile, the orange scarf that cushions his head like a halo. Charon wants to strangle him with it.
“Seven,” the man repeats. He glances at Charon then, frowning slightly. “Number of times I’ve heard a sound from you. Don’t talk much, huh?”

Summary
Achilles remembers worship.
They made a god of him while he was alive, and there he was, fool enough to think it made him untouchable. He’d disdained them at the time, the faceless masses and fool kings, when he’d bothered to think of them at all. He pities them, these uncountable years later. He’s not sure he’s forgiven them.
But, Patroclus.
(Or: Achilles can tell that Zagreus likes him. It reminds him of someone.)

Zagreus hardly sleeps anymore, but when he does, he finds his body does remember: all the ways Meg has killed him, the whip wrapped around his ankle, her heel against his throat. Thanatos’s hands cradling the back of his head, dragging him gently down.
It’s almost lonely in the house. They don’t touch him then.
