Summary
Bone-exhausted eyes meet bone-exhausted eyes. He quietly regrets leaving his room. "It's nice to see you conscious, Shang-shixiong," Mu Qingfang says, tone slightly passive-aggressive. Not dissimilar to the air of a mother upset at her child's recklessness.
Shang Qinghua smiles regardless, even if his stomach rolls. "Conscious is a loose way to put it. How's...?" He glances at the ward Mu Qingfang left.
Mu Qingfang sighs deeply from his chest. "Alive, the three of them."
"Ah, that's good, that's good." Shang Qinghua stops, replays the words, and manages to lose more of his mind. Surely, surely, he heard wrong. "Three?"
Shadows slant over his shidi's face, making him appear both old and young. "Three."

Or: The System glitched, and Shang Qinghua remembers living a life before this one—except he never truly finished what he was meant to, and the past comes back to haunt him.
