Summary
It's been a month since the events of the Resonance Cascade and the living hell that came with it. Gordon Freeman has been plagued by nightmares that keep him stuck in the past while everyone else around him seems to be moving on. It doesn't help that he can't seem to stop dreaming about Benry. Or that he's pretty sure Benry's back from the dead.

He looks at his own dark hair, rough cut bangs hanging over his forehead and the back spilling down to his shoulders; his own dark eyes and pale skin. Gordon reaches over with his left hand and brushes some sand off of his shoulder. "Cringe," he says.

A parasite sprang from the rubble and he smashed it down viciously. The crowbar pinned it to the floor, its innards leaking even as it scrabbled for escape. The thing whined and screeched and died, fighting every second. Maybe a biologist could have told him why the thing was hostile, or what mechanism drove it to seek a human host, but he was not a biologist. He was a physicist, and he'd decided to live.
