Summary
In post-Prohibition era New York, crime boss Ben Solo (otherwise known as Kylo Ren) is transitioning away from bootlegging and into other enterprises: drugs, gambling and jewels. When his longtime associate, Poe Dameron, sends Rey to him, he's shocked to find out that Rey is a woman. To his delight and surprise, she turns out to be not only beautiful, but sharp and fearless.
It doesn't take long for Ben to realize that the jewel he'll want the most from her is the one that's not for sale.

Summary
This story was inspired by a prompt from a friend in FRW. The collection is FRW Cherry Pop.
Ben is a socially awkward undergrad, looking for a way to make a little extra cash. His buddy Poe comes up with a ridiculous idea.
Rey happens to live in the same air bnb as Ben. She's a little older than him, very shy and closed. He starts to break down her walls slowly and discovers that they actually have a lot in common.
It's not a true slow burn, but I wanted to at least give Rey some time to develop trust with Ben, since she really doesn't trust anybody at first.

This fic is inspired in part by my own experience working in a bakery many years ago, and in part by Adam Driver's hands.

Fresh off a panic attack, Rey takes in a self-plucking parrot with a dirty mouth.
~The parrot is crammed into the back corner of the supply store where the vents are loudest and the ceiling mildewed. He’s wearing a chipped plastic bite collar and less than a third of his dark feathers.
The rest are arrayed on the floor of the cage in a pitiful, dirty pile.
As she approaches he ducks away, shy. Trembling, hiding his face in the worn tarp that covers the cage.
“Are you a pretty bird?” she asks.~
