In which an angel did not storm the gates of Hell to retrieve the soul of the Righteous Man, did not fall for the cause of the Righteous Man, and was not forced to betray the Righteous Man. In which none of these tumultuous and supernatural events take place.

Sasori makes a sound of amusement. “Very well, then. You are to locate Yakushi Kabuto, discover why he has stopped reporting in, and ascertain Orochimaru’s plans for the future. He escaped with far too much information about the organization, and if he thinks to tell anyone it will be…inconvenient.”
Depending on who Orochimaru tells, if he does, if could be a pain in the neck for Kiba too, having to account for even more people who might be a danger to Konoha. It’s already hard enough trying to keep tabs on Akatsuki and all of their actions.
“One of the Sannin, huh?” he asks lightly, cocky in a way he doesn’t even begin to feel, and shoves his hands into the pockets of his jacket. “Well, I already got one of the Konoha elders. It’ll be cool to add a Sannin to that, too.”

Eldritch abomination AU: Bruce is more than just the Gotham Batman, and has been ever since he fell into that cave as a child—ever since something in the shadows down there reached out and cracked him open. He doesn't want to destroy the universe; but it might not be up to him. And if he can't stop himself, maybe there's a chance that Clark can.

Summary
Clark comes back a little bit wrong—or maybe more than a little bit. He poses a danger to anybody close to him, in more than one way. There's only one person he can think of who's learned enough about Kryptonian biology to help him and isn't currently in prison; and Wayne owes him, anyway. At least he won't have to feel guilty about lashing out anymore, if he's doing it at the guy who tried to kill him.
Except "lashing out" doesn't really cover it, after a while—and maybe Wayne's in over his head just as far as Clark is.
