    NOW COMPLETE

“If you did play chess," Ross said, "you’d remember that a pawn can become a queen. The most powerful piece on the board, Parker, remember that? But—” Ross smiled— “only if it obeys.”

He adjusted his tie, stood, and looked down at Peter. “I’ll ask you again,” he said. “Eventually. You may feel differently after you’ve been living in a six-by-six cube without sunlight or fresh air for a few years.”

“What pawns do,” Peter said, voice shaking slightly, “is sacrifice themselves for the greater good. I have no regrets.”

He had a lot of regrets.

Like, a lot. A crapton. A shitload. An overloaded dumpsterful.

“When I visit you on the Raft,” Ross said, “you’ll be old enough to grow a beard.” The cell door clicked shut behind him.

Tony Stark always knew about Peter Parker. He didn't know that Peter was going to get superpowers and become Spider-Man, but he always knew about Peter because Peter was his son.

This will span from pre-Iron Man up through the rest of the MCU (eventually including Infinity War) and will be for the most part canon compliant except where I've taken some liberties and interpreted canon a certain way.

Being a superhero sometimes means you forget about the small dangers in the world, like disease. For Peter, this means he loses May to natural causes, not something he could ever save her from.

Unknown to him, May left custody of Peter in the hands of Tony Stark, who, even though he wants kids, has no idea how to actually raise one. With a grieving superhero teenager on his hands, Tony is going to have to figure it out quick, if he wants Peter to ever be able to move on and be happy.

    Summary

It was in March of the 2989th year of the Third Age, 1389 by Shire-reckoning, that Bilbo Baggins went drinking with a few friends and did not return home later that night.
Of course, investigations of more and less seriousness were conducted by people with more and less authority to do so; but since nobody had been around to actually see an accident or a vanishing, no solution to incident could be found, and the hobbits of the Shire had to content themselves with the fact that the Second Disappearance of Bilbo Baggins would remain an unsolved mystery.
When the mayor of Michel-Delving deemed that they had waited long enough to exclude a sudden, unexpected reappearance of Bilbo it was at last decided that it was time that Bilbo's estate and assets should go to the person determined in Bilbo's will...

One day, long before the events of "The Lord of the Rings" take place, Bilbo Baggins (once again) vanishes from the Shire without a trace or a good-bye. This time, though Lobelia Sackville-Baggins secures Bag End for herself - as well as the mysterious magic ring that Bilbo has left behind.
From there on out, things go quite differently.
