“Get the hell away from him!”
Stiles looked at the Eichen Knight.
“He knows who Batman is,” Scarecrow simply stated, dragging the sharp edge of the needle against the skin of Stiles’ arm. She lightly laughed when Stiles flinched. “You seem attached.”
“Get out,” the Knight demanded.
“Or?” Scarecrow pressed.
The Knight drew his sidearm, pointing the barrel directly between Scarecrow’s eyes. “I told you—step on my toes, and I’ll do what Batman never had the guts to do.”
“And if I call your bluff?” Scarecrow carefully asked.
The Knight took a step towards Scarecrow, pressing the cold metal barrel against her forehead as he clicked the hammer back. “Have you ever seen me bluff?” He dared her.
“I’m fine here,” Derek stated, briefly eyeing Scott before grabbing Stiles’ arm. “You need to get out of here. I can’t protect you from Harris or Argent if you don’t flee.”
“I’m not leaving,” Stiles plainly stated to Derek’s face.
Derek glared at Stiles, releasing his arm as he drew in a deep breath. “Help! They’re stealing my horses!”
Stiles’ jaw dropped in momentary shock. “You—”
Derek’s eyebrows raised in challenge, a smug satisfaction preening from him, knowing that Stiles had to run now.
“Derek,” a soft, terrified voice called out. “My sweet … Derek—” a sharp sob stifled his words. “What have you done?”
The voice pulled Derek’s mind back to reality. Derek looked down at the owner, his stomach churning as all his horrors were realized.
Stiles lay on the cold, filthy mud of the dock, his clothes stained with the blood gushing from his neck.
“The bite can be,” Boyd paused, choosing his words carefully. “The bite can have a euphoric feeling to it, for humans,” he finally explained to Allison. “But it’s rare, and not often an easy thing to create.”
“You have to create the feeling?” Allison asked.
Boyd looked to Derek. “You formed a bond with him, didn’t you?”
Derek hesitated, knowing Boyd’s stance on the issue. He silently nodded.
“You know that’s forbidden with humans,” Boyd pressed. “If the Elder knew— Derek, you’re risking everything for a human.” He observed his friend. “You hate humans.”
“He’s different,” Derek softly argued, refusing to look at Boyd.
Or, the one were Derek is a Higher Vampire, a recluse in human society, until he meets Stiles—a young man with a mysterious past who shows no fear of Derek or his kind.
Derek felt flustered. “I’m sure Derek Hale would be interested still, despite his reclusiveness,” he added.
Stiles looked at Derek like there was something funny about him. “You’re pretty adamant about that,” he commented.
Derek sighed some, “I just think someone like you would be a refreshing face and perspective for someone like Derek Hale to meet.”
Stiles softly smiled at that. “Thanks,” he uttered. “But enough about me, what about you?”
Derek felt flustered—again. He wasn’t sure if he should reveal it all there or wait it out. He liked the time he was spending with Stiles, but he was terrified of what would happen once Stiles knew the truth about him.
Or, the one where Derek meets one of his biggest fans, but Stiles doesn't know who he is.
