    They're in the play!

(They go through the requisite amount of hey, this doesn’t look like heaven, this looks like a theater!, which takes… more time than you might think, especially since they aren’t all speaking to each other.)

    Bookmarker's Notes

“In Act Two, Eliza moves on Maria Reynolds—played by Burr—with a kind of ruthlessness. She says he’s left her helpless.

He sings, “I didn’t know any better.”

    She says she’s ruined.

Here’s the kicker: he agrees. “Yes, yes,” they both sing in tandem.”

Kathy tweaked his nose and skipped ahead of him. "You know, Cosmo, Don and I may love you for your brains--"

"Excuse me! I resent that remark! You love me for my unerring sense of comic timing."

    Bookmarker's Notes

Harry says, “Would you look after Hedwig for me?”
    “Is something wrong?” Hermione asks.
“No, she’s fine. We’re fine.” Harry runs a hand through his half-dry hair. It’s sticking up in the back, brittle with salt. “But if something did happen, would you take care of her for me?”
“Harry,” Hermione starts in that careful tone of hers, “nothing’s going to—”
“Fine,” Harry says, harsher than he needs to, but his chest is burning from the lake water he choked down, and adrenaline crashes leave him impatient. “Ron?”

    Summary

One day he looks up from the scaffolding and realizes that he’s almost exactly at Jaeger height and has to wrap his hand tight against the metal to keep from stepping out into the air. Not because he wants to kill himself or anything, just because for a split second his mind felt that old equilibrium and he just knew he should be able to, should be able to walk straight across the valley in front of him and out into the sea and on forever until he finds whatever’s next.

    Bookmarker's Notes

"At the base in Sitka they’d called it cling-wrapping, but velcroing is what most bases use to refer to the way pilots deal with the after-effects of Drifting. The separation from each other is so jarring that the simplest way to ease themselves back into normal interactions is to stay as physically close as possible. He and Yancy used to do it all the time, hugging each other tightly for no reason, stumbling back to their shared quarters after a successful run and passing out squeezed into the same bunk, sleeping back to back with their legs falling off the narrow mattress like they were kids again and not scared of zombie movies at all, Mom."

Most of the interesting customers that Adam meets are terrible interesting rather than fun interesting.

    Bookmarker's Notes

The ex-phone's owner is an unreal level of hot, even though he's scowling at Adam. Or maybe a little because he's scowling at Adam. "Bi" is turning out to be the most straightforward part of Adam's sexuality; it's the attraction toward the endlessly terrifying that confuses him.
