Summary
Will sketched loops in silver with the fly line against the burnished orange of the deep morning, reading the water. Early summer meant trying to imitate golden stones with a bright red and yellow Stimmie, which he’d tied last night out of goose biot feathers for the tail and gold tinsel for the body. The best casting spot for the lure today lined up with an old tree, its gritty bark jagged with tongues of pale fungus, its boughs still cradling an old bird’s nest, abandoned for over a year now and still structurally intact.
“Any luck?”
“Not so far,” Will said. He reeled in the line and turned, picking out the dark, broad-shouldered man in a suit by his kit. Sharp-eyed, square-jawed, pugnacious curiosity: the man had to be a cop of some breed or other. “Can I help you?”

Summary
“What I want doesn’t matter.” He spoons some of the scrambled eggs into his mouth, chews and swallows. “Never has.”
“Jack has used you quite mercilessly.” Will shovels the rest of the eggs in his mouth, draining the glass of juice that had come with them in one long pull. “The places he drove you to must be dark indeed.”
Hannibal takes the tray back as Will pushes it into his hands. When Will speaks, it’s so quiet that Hannibal has to strain to hear it. “The only thing Jack drove me to was you.”

Instead of bending, Will breaks.

Summary
Today begins with the familiar sensation of Will’s wiry hands gripping Hannibal’s sides. There was a time when Hannibal would wake early in the morning, waiting for their routine so that he could prevent Will from hurling them over the bed. It only saddened Hannibal whenever he would see the look of defeat on Will’s face, like a bullet shatters glass. So, he lets Will attempt to kill him every morning, knowing he would fail and sometimes hoping he wouldn’t.
Will suffers from anterograde amnesia, unable to remember any day after the fall from the cliffside. Hannibal never gives up hope.

Heartbreaking, but rewarding. Such a refreshing take on (sometimes banal) amnesia theme.

Finally! Someone wrote down my unpopular thoughts about their relationship. Just infinitely more eloquently :)
