“Oh.” Wei Ying stops trying to find his phone, gives his hand over entirely to Lan Zhan’s attention. “You wanna go by yourself? Will it be alright?”
“Mm.” Lan Zhan kisses his palm, his knuckles, the back of his hand. No, he wants to say, childishly. No, it won’t be alright, and you should come with me, navigate this worsening, this new set of things to unpack. You should kiss me as I call my brother, my uncle. You should sit in the strange silence of Mama and Shushu in a room together and let me hold your hand so tight that your knuckles grind.
He doesn’t say any of that. He lets go of Wei Ying’s hand. He calls Xichen, and leaves him a ten-second-long voicemail. He begins to pack.

Summary
Lan Zhan knows that face. It's Wei Ying.
His head is thrown back, eyes closed, baring a long line of throat interrupted only by his adam's apple. He's pulling the mic stand towards him as he belts out a high note, long and piercing, the crowd screaming along with him. He cuts it off and snaps his eyes open – the camera catches it head on and for a single breath, it's almost as if he's looking straight at Lan Zhan.

He loves Wei ying unconditionally, true, but he cannot bear to see Wei ying loving someone else too. Wangji knows he is a selfish man. He never loved himself enough though. Life is strange, isn't it? Others always came first. But for once he realized that he should love and value himself, a bit at least, for a change.
He'll carry his love for Wei ying in his heart with him. Because that's a forever inseparable part of himself and that's who he is. But he'll leave behind the burden of his unconditional and all-encompassing love here because unlike in the past, Wei ying is not alone, there are a lot of people who love him and will take care of him now. And his brother loves Wei ying....and Wei Ying loves him too.
OrI wrote this fic for myself. This is catharsis for me, letting go of versions of Wei Wuxians I've read without knowing and i don't like but who still torture my mind living there forcefully (screams in frustration) And if any fellow sufferers are there, they too can read this and let go.
