‘I just…suggested he should try singing on stage sometime…’ the younger male brought out. ‘Is that so wrong?’
Dazai bit his lip. ‘It’s kind of a sensitive subject for him.’
‘I figured, but why?’ Atsushi asked. He didn’t understand at all. ‘He sounded really good…’
‘He knows that.’ Chuuya stated.
It was quiet for a while.
‘And-…the person who damaged his vocal cords knew too.’

‘So, what about it?’
‘What about what?’
‘Will you give me a chance?’ Atsushi huffed. HE really wasn’t the stupid one here.
‘What? At becoming my owner? Not a chance. I don’t remember the last one, but they can’t have been a pleasant person if this is what I turned into, don’t you think?’ Akutagawa spat.
‘I meant at being your friend.’
‘What is wrong with you?’
(In which Akutagawa is too proud to admit he's lonely, but Atsushi is certain even robots feel that way sometimes. And maybe he's right. Well damn it.)

‘This is Chuuya Nakahara, your new caretaker.’ his mother stated. Dazai’s eyes only widened in shock.
‘Kind of a degrading term, but yes; a robot.’
Dazai’s glaring only intensified. ‘I don’t need some pathetic excuse of a toy as a caretaker. No one can replace Odasaku anyway. Couldn't you have gotten me a pet instead?’
Chuuya didn’t seem to be affected by Dazai’s insults, which only showed how very non-human he actually was.
‘Stop behaving like a spoiled brat! We could have sent you to a clinic the moment you decided to behave like this, but instead we spent a lot of money on getting you this expensive solution.’
‘You could have spent more money on getting protection for Odasaku.’
(In which all 7 year-old Dazai really wants is to get back Odasaku, but gets Chuuya instead. Though in the end, perhaps the hatrack isn't all that terrible)

At last, both he and Atsushi are done with their tasks. Somehow, Ryuunosuke says goodbye to his bandmates, ignoring their knowing glances. Somehow, he and Atsushi end up out in front of the building. Atsushi smiles at him and takes his hand, entwining their fingers.
“It’s late. My apartment is closer. Will you-” Atsushi swallows, “will you stay?”
“Yes,” Ryuunosuke rasps. His chest is full and words won’t come to him, but ‘yes’ sums it up. Yes, stay with me. Yes, I want you. Yes, please touch me.
“Okay,” Atsushi smiles and leads them down the street. His fingers are warm and firm between Ryuunosuke’s own.
Set after "Electrically Alive." What happens after Atsushi and Ryuunosuke's post-show kisses and sort-of-confessions.

Shin Soukoku Week, Day 6: Alternate Universe
The lights are dim and tainted red, Tachihara’s bass is vibrating the sticky floorboards of the stage, and sweat is running down Akutagawa’s back. His mind is hazy, eyes half-closed as he lets the beat run through his body and course through his veins. The bass rumbles in the soles of his boots, throbs in his ribcage. His fingers hold and strum the guitar, knowing what to do without much conscious effort, backing up Atsushi playing on the other side of the stage. Rhythm to Atsushi’s lead.
