"Uh--what was that? What'd you just do to that guy?"
"Huh," the one with glasses says, squinting at him. "Weird. Must be from a family of Clear Sighteds. Mortals usually forget right away."
"Okay could someone please explain to me what just happened!" He means for it to be a question, but it comes out as a panicked exclamation instead.
"Don't worry about it," says the one with the spikey bat. "It's just your eyes playing tricks on you. Hey, we've gotta go, but--what's your name again?"
"Jake Peralta," he says on autopilot. Most of his brain is still occupied by the thirteen different levels of freaking out he's doing right now.
"Good to know. See you around, Peralta."
And then the kids just file out of the alley, like no big deal, nothing to see here.
Well. Now there is nothing to see here, if he's being technical. Nothing but an extremely freaked out NYPD detective who's now behind by a case in the bet.
Dammit.

Summary
Buffy realizes pretty quickly that when you come back from the missing-slash-presumed-dead, no matter how many questions people ask, there are some things they don't want to hear about. Cordelia, strangely, serves as a source of comfort: their feet move in perfect time until the brunette girl turns abruptly to face her.
"You fucked up," Cordy says, matter of fact. She's not being kind, but she's not being cruel, either. She's just being Cordelia, which is strangely reassuring. "I don't know what you were going through, and to be honest, I don't think I want to, because it was probably really dark and scary and horrifying. But you shouldn't have left. The answer is never leaving."

A season 3 AU in which Buffy comes back from L.A. to strained relationships, Faith accidentally becomes the Scoobies' therapist, and everything goes a little better when characters can learn how to have healthy, open communication.
(Or: Dead Man's Party did not do justice to the amount of emotional aftermath from the season 2 finale/season 3 pilot, so I stretched those arguments and rebuilding trust out across most of season 3. And now Buffy's friends with Gunn. There, see? Better already.)

Stiles really didn't mean for all this to happen, promise. Scout's honor. It's just that one thing spiraled into another and before he knew it he was off at college, with long-distance shared custody of a mystical baby tree and a whole other life he could never quite bring himself to explain.
(or: my completely unnecessary attempt at writing a brief 5+1 filled with "Stiles keeps a secret from the pack" subtropes kind of spiraled. I was not expecting an almost 16K monstrosity to come out of this. Sadly, I think I was the only one not expecting that.)

Summary
“What – what is this?” Peter’s voice trembles.
“YOU’RE TRENDING!” Ned is still crowing enthusiastically in his ear, voice high-pitched and tinny over the phone’s loudspeaker. “SPIDER-MAN IS TRENDING, PETER!”
Peter stares dumbly down at his phone, because—for once—his Guy in the Chair isn’t exaggerating.
Right there, on his phone screen, is the evidence of it: hundreds—no, thousands—of Tweets made in support of Spider-Man, waxing lyrical about his heart of gold and his good deeds and his heroics. Thousands.
Almost immediately, Peter knows that this is Mr. Stark’s doing. It has to be.
Alternatively: Everyone appreciates Spider-Man. After a difficult patrol leaves Peter disheartened and feeling worthless, Tony thinks it’s about time his Spider-Kid realizes that.
Also alternatively: In which Tony finds out about Toomes and the warehouse, Peter fears Spider-Man will never be enough, and the people of Queens (and then some) stick up for their hero.

Peter doesn't want to go on a field trip to Stark Tower. It's a recipe for disaster. His class doesn't believe him, his teacher doesn't believe him. If he makes it through the entire day without being suspended, it'll be a miracle. Unfortunately for Peter, he's never much believed in miracles.

“This is a goddamn disaster.” Peter declared miserably. At least he hadn’t thrown up his food.
“Could be worse.” MJ said across from him. Peter lifted up his head.
“Oh yeah, how?”
MJ shrugged. “They could have expelled you instead.”
Peter gaped at her. “Thanks MJ, that’s really helpful. I feel so much better now.”

When Mr Harrington announces the class field trip to Stark Industries, Peter takes a moment to feel extremely sorry for himself, before he sucks it up and prepares himself for an embarrassment-induced death. Privately, he apologises to Tony, who had almost died to bring Peter back from the dead -well, Peter and every other person in the universe- because clearly Tony’s almost-sacrifice would be in vain now, because yep, Peter was definitely going to die.
