But everything felt different here, and Yuuri was ready for something different here. He was ready for everything.
Yuuri squeezed harder around Viktor’s waist and a loud pop! sounded from the skillet.
Yuuri’s libido was going to ruin dinner.
The fae are known to be cruel. It's a fact of life, but it's not one Viktor Nikiforov has ever really put much thought into, given how much of himself he's poured into his skating career. He's exhausted and low on inspiration, and perhaps inheriting a countryside mansion from a distant uncle is just what he needs to give himself a reset. It seems perfect - not too far from town, plenty of space for Makkachin to run around, and an enchanting sense of magic.
So really, it's too bad that it comes with a curse.
(Or is it?)

“...What,” Yuuri says and opens one pensive eye to look. From his point of view, it’s upside down, so it takes him a half-second to realize Viktor has affixed a sticker to his shirt. Not just any sticker, but one that has a stylized doodle of Viktor giving a thumbs up with the words ‘Good job on showing up!’ written in an obnoxious bubbly purple font underneath.
Yuuri thinks it’s the most patronizing thing he’s seen in his life.
(Or the one where Viktor praises Yuuri with stickers, Yuuri is his usual overthinking ball of nerves, but it all works out in the end.)

Here he is — he’s come to Saint Petersburg five days early without telling anyone except his family; without even telling Victor, who was so eager to meet him off the plane. So, now he’s standing in front of him, bag in hand and backpack on shoulders, sweating because of the winter coat he’s wearing. Or maybe because of something else. The stupid decision he made, for example.
