Summary
His father scoffed and looked down at him with disgust. “I won’t have a fucking weak-hearted son ruining the family name. Clearly, I’ve let you indulge too much in soft-bellied fantasies and the weak-natured world of women.” Stede’s eyes flicked to his mother who refused to meet his gaze. “No longer.” His father spat at him. “This stops today. You will learn to face your problems on your own. Or you can no longer call yourself my son.”
And with that Stede’s father spun on his heel and stalked away, his mother following dutifully.
Stede never did get that hug. And he never would again.

Summary
Roaming the flat desert of Earth, there was no archangel to chide him for his pride. And he was proud. He stole a little piece of Eden from Her. He grinned and took the flower down from his hair, basking in its seemingly ethereal glow. He was proud. If he had been in heaven he’d be glowing with it now, brighter than his largest stars. But he wasn’t in heaven and there was no one to tell him to stop. Maybe, he thought for the first time since the fall, this demon thing wasn’t so bad after all.
In the beginning, Crowley fell, and he turned out all the better for it.

Sometimes "inspired by real events" means you're going to watch an inspiring movie about how your arm getting bit off by a shark doesn't change who you are inside, other times it means you read an article about hobby lobby smuggling ancient artifacts into the country and think "hey, that could be turned into a coffee shop au."
This is a case of the later.
Rewrite of one of my older fanfics.

Summary
As Peter’s eyes fall on Juno’s arms his heart plummets into his feet. Just above the crook of each elbow lie dozens upon dozens of parallel scars, as thin and straight as the razorblade that must have made them. Thankfully these look old. It’s clear it’s a habit Juno broke years ago.
Thank fuck for that.3rd person, but focuses on Peter's pov.

Summary
He sighed heavily. “‘m just being silly. I didn’t really think you were mocking me but-”
“Woah hey, what the fuck? I fucking hate massive aggression.”
Stede’s lips quirked at the slip up. “I know you do. I’m just used to it. Boarding school, you know.” He smiled up at Ed warily, urging him to understand.
Ed didn’t understand at all. But he couldn’t tell Stede that. Not when he’d rather see him fall on his arse on deck so that he could come to his rescue.
Or: Ed discovers what Stede experienced at boarding school through a series of vignettes, and then they talk about things!

Summary
Stede looked back up at Ed, and the joyous expression on his face was enough for Stede to smile back. His happiness was just so contagious. Ed’s anger could brew storms, could swallow ships up whole into the depths below — he had seen it first hand on many occasions — but his happiness? It was unmatched. It made the air around him seem lighter, made life seem better.
It made everything that they had been through to get to that point worth it.
“You didn’t have to do all of that,” Stede spoke softly as Ed perched on the bed beside his legs, a hand falling atop the covers to stroke Stede’s thigh through the fabric. “It’s too lovely, darling.”
“Pssh, nonsense. I’m just serving my Captain,” Ed wriggled his eyebrows and coaxed a laugh from Stede. “Now c’mon, eat your oats, I’ll get started on cracking this fucker open.” He passed over the bowl of oats before he took the orange into his hands, and pierced the skin at the top with his thumb as Stede spooned the first mouthful of his breakfast between his lips.

Summary
Stede Bonnet's been having panic attacks for almost as long as he can remember, suffocated by pressure and expectation. For years, he and Mary had an understanding, necessary for every stuffy networking party and corporate gala: I just need some air. And Stede would find the nearest exit, while Mary distracted the Badmintons before they could figure out where he'd gone. When Stede finally takes his life back — divorces Mary, moves to Melbourne, starts his own event management business — things get better, but he's still no good at parties. He still needs some air, even at the very events he's brought to fruition.
Meanwhile, Edward Teach, renowned chef and owner of Blackbeard's Catering, is wondering why the newest bigwig in events still hasn't hired him.
Modern AU set in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia; a family found and a romance grown in the alleyways behind galleries and function rooms.

Summary
“Captain, your throat,” Frenchie insists, taking Stede’s weight like he’s hurt. “You—”
“I’m fine, Frenchie, my goodness,” Stede tells him. He tries to disentangle them; in Frenchie’s confusion, he only tightens his grip, pulling Stede towards the door and away from Ed. “It’s just a little cut from shaving, I’m fine! I promise, we don’t need Roach or anyone, Ed was handling it just fine himself.”
This pulls Frenchie up short, and he stops in the doorway, fingers still tight in Stede’s flesh. Bewildered, he looks back, eyes finding the tiny— tiny— cut on Stede’s jaw before they snap up to Ed, brow furrowing.
“It’s barely anything,” Frenchie says, though— Stede’s expecting relief, and his tone only sounds accusatory, which is just strange.
