Ash was in love with Eiji. Anybody who knew the boy could see it was true. That's what made an otherwise harmless Eiji dangerous. It was known by many, including his enemies, that Eiji is Ash's weak spot. He'd do anything-- kill anyone, including himself, to keep Eiji safe. His whole proximity to Eiji set off blaring alarms in his head, warning him that it was a bad idea to keep him close, but he'd forcibly silence the alarms every time for just a moment of personal comfort. There was finally a person in Ash's life that cared for him and expected nothing in return, and he was not too keen on letting that go.
Upon realizing that Ash stole Eiji's first kiss, he's determined to make it up to him. Ash wants to heal from his past abuse and learn to trust Eiji in their new relationship.
