    Summary

"People are starting to talk," Bond says, "about the young man who prefers the company of the dead in a deserted cemetery than the living, breathing villagers in the tea rooms that Millet prides itself on."

"I thought a gothic mystique fits in quite well with the image of a writer," Q replies. "Or did you have something else in mind when you professed me a poet?"

"I always associate you and your laptop with your office or lab, so – cluttered desk space, dim room lightning with only a single lamp on to illuminate your work, and a mug of tea for company. This—" Bond tilts his head to indicate the cemetery around them "—is a world apart from that environment."

"Is it?" Q smiles. "I find the solitude quite similar."

(When MI6 sends Q to the countryside for his own protection against Spectre's retaliation, it is not so much a short-term undercover assignment as it is a glimpse of an alternate life that Q could have had – just with the additional presence of one meddlesome Double-O agent).

Amazing. I felt like I was in Millet.

    Summary

Bond has lost his memory. Q has lost his love.

"What have I forgotten?” Bond asked; Q watched him, trying to find the James he knew.

“Nothing that you won’t work out on your own, if it’s really important,” Q said carefully, before returning every fraction of his attention to the computer in front of him.

    Summary

“Is that all you’re going to say?” Bond asks. Q purses his lips, as if in thought.
“They warned me about you,” he says. “What you might do.
    “Murder?” Bond asks.
    “Seduction.”
“Ah.” Bond leans against the desk, supporting himself with one hand, in a manner that usually lets people know what his intentions are. Q looks him up and down and raises his brows.
“Exhibit A,” Q says, and looks pointedly at Bond’s hips.
“You can’t say it isn’t working,” Bond says.
    “No. I can’t.”

Love, in all of it's previous forms, has always screwed Bond over. So when he first kisses Q it's to get away from it, not to fall into it. Bond is, however, not known for his great emotional foresight.

    sleep.

“Invite me to your place tonight,” Bond suggests. He watches as Q looks up at him in mild surprise, before the expression gives way to simple exhaustion again.

“I am, as I am sure you can see, very tired,” he says.

“I know,” Bond says. “You sleep the best after sex. I’ll just give you an orgasm and be off.”

This was always where it was going to end up, he supposed, since the moment he caught the man on camera; Q with his legs wrapped around Bond's waist, fucking in the middle of his trashed apartment. This kind of obsession was really inevitable.
