Fury is unfortunate enough to have to mediate confrontations between demigod and Avenger. Why did he ever sign up for this job?
- Part 5 of Fury's Stresses
20 May 2017
Fury's eradicated HYDRA, been warned off of recruiting Percy Jackson by everyone from Thor to the seventh floor janitor, and celebrated a lost demigod's life with more demigods and a few Egyptian magicians. He understands the (Greek) demigods and the magicians—but what's Thor got to do with this?
And, incidentally, there's more to the story now than there was two weeks ago. Wonderful. (Who gives these kids powers, and were they on drugs when they made the decision?)

Demigods are protective of their own. It's a fact of life. It's not one that Director Fury really appreciates, though. Especially not when there's a Norse demigod in the midst of all of this.
When he knocked—and yes, he did know how to knock like a regular human being—the door was answered by the kid who had invaded his office. The one with 'all the creepy powers' and the equally creepy cheerfulness. He was even shorter than Fury remembered.
"Wow," the kid said, checking his watch. "You say three weeks, you mean three weeks. C'mon in. We're in the middle of an inter-pantheon meeting, but I suppose SHIELD can stand in as another weirdo on the map."

In which our dear Director Fury finds out who the person who tipped him off was, Percy is grieving, the rest of the demigods are rallying behind him, and Nico is generally annoyingly chipper.
"No," he said flatly, and shut the door in their faces.
Beside Fury, Coulson's lips barely twitched with amusement.
"By all means, you try," Fury said.
"Mr. Jackson, I don't think that you know who we are. My name is Phil Coulson—"
The door opened, and the nineteen-year-old all but snarled into their faces: "I know who you are, Phillip Coulson, Handler and Field Agent of SHIELD. I know who you are too, Director Nicholas Fury. I already bailed your asses out of HYDRA before things got flipped into the fire, and now I'm grieving for my wife. Leave me alone."
