Summary
There are four majorly rich families in Singapore with other minorly rich families that they associate with. Originally, there were five, until one family filed a lawsuit against another. Now- it is the Jiangs, Lans, Nies, and Jins.
Wei Wuxian is a former member of the Jiangs, but left his big rich Singaporean life to become a lawyer in America. However, his boyfriend, Lan Wangji, has convinced him to come home for the summer… and for his beloved shijie's wedding.

Summary
When Lan Wangji has a Big Gay Panic while talking to new neighbor Wei Wuxian, he accidentally implies that he's dating his childhood friend Nie Huaisang. Thus hatches a (poorly planned) scheme to do damage control and get to know his crush without pressure to make a move.
As feelings develop, this turns out to be a Very Bad Idea for everyone involved. Absolutely nobody is surprised.
