The most frustrating thing about modern publishing, Natasha thinks, is that it’s now considered a waste of paper to print out a two-hundred-page manuscript and correct it in red pen. And if anyone deserves two hundred pages of red-inked fury, it’s Clint Barton.

    Summary

[THIS IS NOT THE PERFECT SOLUTION!] Natasha texts Maria a week later. [ASSUMING I SURVIVE THIS, WE. WILL. HAVE. WORDS.] Natasha would never be characterized as an impolite texter; however, she feels that this situation merits the yelling.

Which situation? Oh, just the one where Maria, the worst person on the planet, has assigned STRIKE Delta to go undercover in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Together. For Christmas. Alone.

Or: Natasha's self-control is put to the test when STRIKE Team Delta is assigned to go undercover as married for the holiday season.

This has a beautiful alien-magic quality to it - like that book of Russian fairy tales I loved as a kid, the one with the different aesthetic and patterns that were so much more interesting than the cliche Grimm stuff.

    Summary

Retirement, it turns out, is not a thing that Clint is adjusting to very well. Or, you know, at all. It didn't occur to him that when he dropped the team, it would mean he'd lose Natasha, too.

[Begins pre-CACW, through the events of it, and into the aftermath. Otherwise known as: the slow-burn divorce fic we didn't know we needed.]

One of the smartest, best-written stories to deal with the AoU fallout. I hated the farm plot line, but have played along with it in some of my stories - always fearing that things will End Very Badly for Hawkeye's family and wanting them to have a little happiness while they're still alive. This story offers a well-reasoned, villain-and-death-free way out of that possibility, along with giving us Clintasha fans to have what we deserved all along (appropriately paced, yet). Marvel - I hope you are listening?

If Kate would've just talked to him about the Dog Cops finale, then Clint wouldn't be lying in bed, staring pointlessly at the ceiling, when the Insomniacs Anonymous radio show comes on at 1 AM and changes his life three minutes at a time.
