Tony Stark had a laundry list of character defects. Nowhere on it was "abandon a child who needed help", especially not one who didn't have a Rhodey looking for them.

    Summary

A few months after the events of An Endless Sea, Gibbs' team encounters yet another case that involves Commander DiNozzo, someone who Gibbs is very attracted to and has a lot of admiration for, even though they have not yet moved forward in their relationship. And this case will be a difficult one for DiNozzo to cope with.

Reminder: This is an AU where Tony never became a cop and never joined NCIS.

    Summary

This is a rationalist and effective altruist take on the Last Herald-Mage trilogy, inspired by HPMOR, r!Animorphs: The Reckoning, and other works. From a starting point of "what if the characters were trying to be reasonable?" and "what if Leareth was a human being with real, complex motivations, rather than a cartoon villain?" I am seeing where it goes.

Meta note: this fic is accessible regardless of whether you’ve read canon, as confirmed by most of my beta readers. Fair warning that it starts out a little slow, and book 1 is kind of a different genre from book 2 onward. Additional warning that book 2 onward gets *really grimdark* and this doesn't really let up. I have between 9-11 volumes planned.

Major themes include the complexity of thinking about ethics, the challenge of taking on problems in the world that seem insurmountable, and trying to do good while dealing with serious mental health issues. The characters do not start out masters of rationality, but they do learn from their mistakes and grow as people, and do their best to help support each other.

    Summary

Stiles has always been different. When he was four, his tantrum resulted in an earthquake. When he was twelve and he broke his ankle, his tears sprouted weeds. When he was seventeen and he had his first heartbreak, he caused a landslide. He's half-fae and his whole life has been one magical day after another. He loves his gifts and he wouldn't trade them. Stiles has been resigned to a quiet, happy life. Of course, he'd be happier if he had someone who could love him just as much as they loved his magic.
Separating Stiles from his power has always been the hard part for anyone Stiles tries to date.
Peter is looking for a quiet life. After waking up from his coma, losing his family, and being kicked out of the only family he has left, he's looking for somewhere to lay low. To start over again. He had his brush with power and was almost killed for it, now, he's learned to be cautious of power. Even though Beacon Hills was where his entire life ended, he can't picture himself anywhere else.
Stiles offers all of the quiet Peter desires and all the power he doesn't.

    Summary

Major John Sheppard has agreed to join the Atlantis expedition at the eleventh hour. And, sure, he's committed but it's more on a whim than because of any driven purpose. This "Ancient Gene" has compelled his curiosity, but he can't pretend he understands the magnitude of what that means. But Rodney McKay can, and does. John is Atlantis' golden boy, but it's McKay who understands how to make her sing. Then something even more unexpected happens: they become friends.

They carve out a way of life in the Pegasus Galaxy, giving them the chance to miss the more subtle nuances of Earth - like readily available casual sex. John weighs his options but a late night chair calibration shifts his attention onto Rodney. Could it work? John sets out to explore the possibility but, much like the Atlantis expedition, can't possibly appreciate the magnitude of what that means.
