In the spring of 1944, the 104th Medical Battalion of the United States Army is disbanded, and its men reassigned to various infantry companies in preparation for their invasion of occupied France. For First Lieutenant Novak, this is less than helpful, as he has so far met his platoon’s designated medic a grand total of twice, and has both times found Sergeant Winchester to be the optimum combination of reckless, arrogant, and downright insufferable so as to make cohesive platoon function near impossible. When the time comes to move out, however, Castiel has to reconcile himself to the fact that men are going to go down and trust that Dean Winchester may well be the only person who can put them back together again. Above her the Sphinx snarls, then throws back its head and roars again, but she can barely hear it through the pounding in her head, the sound muffled beneath the beating of her heart, loud, so loud, in her ears, frantic like a drum and she times each beat to the pulse of blood that drips between her fingers. Her vision clouds, dances, grows hazy as she hits the ground, her head dizzy, the air shifting about her, time tastes heavy in her mouth, the temporal flux that surrounds them once again making itself known, and fuck, she's going to age again and die as an old woman, this is not at all how she wanted to go--
Vex'ahlia drifts into the darkness, and without an anchor she never lands.
Or, the one where the battle with the Sphinx goes poorly, and Vex is thrown, injured and bleeding out, into the past. After being saved by someone unexpected and brought to Whitestone, she must make the choice to either let fate take its course as she knows it, or to try and change the events of the past despite not knowing how it may affect the future; a choice that's complicated more than is fair by a young human lordling who is far too familiar and yet a complete stranger all at once.

Bookmarker's Notes
“This is private property.” And the kid laughs. Not a happy laugh, but desperate, almost hysterical. “Who are you?” “Stiles. My dad’s the sheriff?” “So you’re familiar with the concept of stalking.” “So familiar,” he says earnestly. Derek’s ninety percent sure he’s being made fun of, but has no idea why. “Shut up,” he says on principle.
“I’m not an expert on this kind of ward, but I know this is a sort of general protection. Almost like a good luck charm. Except for one thing. There are so many fireproofing wards. I think somebody could napalm our house, and all that would happen is the place would smell weird.” He spreads a palm over one of the designs on the bark. “I wonder why he’s so worried about fire in particular.”
“Your Stiles—his heart stopped beating. So…he died in that crash. The only reason I’m alive in this body is because the magic that sent me here patched it up. But your Stiles…he was already gone by then.” “Maybe my Stiles is just in your body,” Scott argues. “Scott. There wasn’t enough left of my body to heal. That’s why the rune kicked me out of it.” And even if that body had been fine, your poor, unprepared Stiles would’ve been dead in minutes.
“They think you’re cool.” “That’s why they’re staring at me?” “I know, right? Your cool guy reputation is a mystery to me, also. Surprisingly hilarious, though.” Derek laughs, because it’s always been hilarious to him, but it’s rare for other people to see the humor in it. It’s like—these people have clearly never seen him with his mom. Or his sisters, for that matter.
In less frightening but more upsetting news, if the ridiculously gorgeous Derek Hale pins Stiles to his car one more time, Danny is going to pop an artery in whatever part of the brain that controls lust. It’s just unfair. Today, for example, Stiles is leaning back against his car with Derek practically between his legs, and there’s not a flail or an awkward laugh in sight. Like he thinks that’s where Derek belongs. Among other distressing things, that kind of confidence looks appallingly good on Stiles, and Danny isn’t used to thinking anything looks good on Stiles. (Okay, that may be a lie, but the point is, it used to be a convincing lie.)
“Derek’s at your house right now? Oh my God. Did you catch him sneaking around your yard and invite him in or something?” “Hm? No, he climbed in my window. Why?” “He what?” “I know, right? I’ve given up on training him out of it.” “You mean he’s climbed in your window before?!” “No, no! No, this is the first time. I just meant—social skills. Generally. I’ve given up on them.” Derek would be offended under normal circumstances, but there are no normal circumstances with Stiles, and he’s more confused than anything. Because when Stiles said, This is the first time, he was lying.
“What the hell is wrong with you? He’s seventeen! He’s the sheriff’s underage son! You climbed into the sheriff’s underage son’s bedroom window, Derek! Do you have any idea how much Mom is going to yell at you?” “Don’t tell Mom!” Derek yelps, thereby earning himself a really weird look from Stiles.
“What’s it like? Being familiar with an alternate reality? Having an educated guess about the possible future?” “It’s like playing three-dimensional chess with all the pieces making up their own rules. By which I mean it sucks, and I’m tired of it.”
“I do trust you guys, this is not about me. This is about you, and the fact that you probably trust the ice cream man just because he gives you ice cream. All I’m saying is, sometimes the ice cream man is a child molester.” This is getting really scary. “…Were you molested?” Stiles gives a stifled scream of frustration and throws up his hands. “Every time I warn you about something, I am not secretly talking about my own tragic past! Gah! This explains so much about you!”
“Can we actually stand back and let the adults handle it? Is that an option in this world? Because if it is, that is seriously the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me. Oh my God, Peter isn’t even insane. Make him handle it. Solved!”
“Did you love your Derek?” Stiles isn’t sure she understands how cruel some of her questions are. “My Derek is dead.” “I know. Not what I asked.” He’s starting to think she does know what this line of questioning is doing to him, and she’s asking anyway, grimly determined. Why? Don’t conflate your Dereks.
Possibly the thing Stiles hates most about himself is the way he’s always felt a sense of…what, impending loss? Even when he was a kid, even when things were so good, so perfect, when he had no reason to doubt they’d always be perfect, he’d been waiting. Waiting to lose it all. He was the world’s most paranoid eight-year-old, and that was before he started being proven right.
Bottom line: he’s never surprised by loss, and he’s always suspicious of his own happiness. He’s fucking broken inside, always has been. -

Derek put both arms around Peter’s neck.
“I thought you hated me.” Derek’s heart broke; he couldn’t believe he had refused to give a second chance to his Uncle when he got his without asking.Getting control wasn’t always easy; his wolf was too powerful for his age and his parents couldn’t explain it. The vet’s diagnosis was always the same: Derek’s wolf was fully developed which made him and his wolf out of sync. With training, he could control his wolf until his body matures enough to match his powers.
“Why are you not dating her again? Aren’t you supposed to be in love or something?”
“That was years ago! I don’t love her like that anymore, she’s a child!” No matter how hard he tried, Derek could not believe he was the same age as the kids in his class. He would probably stay celibate until he was at least back to being 24…and that had nothing to do with Stiles. Not at all.
“You do realize not dating anyone until your mid-twenties is going to look weird right? And what the hell is a Stiles?”This time she didn’t pretend to want anything else than Derek; she came right next to him and leaned against their table, her back to Paige.
“Hi.” She said seductively.
“Hi…can I help you?” Stay calm. Don’t shift, not here.
“Well I hope so sweetie. I just got into town and I thought maybe you could show me around?” The lie was ridiculous since they both knew she had found her way to the diner, the basketball court and the mall just fine without his help.
“You mean like a date?” He pretended to sound hopeful and he saw Paige shaking with her hand on her lips to try and stop from laughing out loud.
“Exactly like a date babe. What do you say? We could catch a movie if you want.”
“I’m sorry Ma’am, my mom says I can’t date anyone over 30.” Derek replied with a straight face. Paige lost all control and almost fell off of her seat while Kate stared at him with outrage.“Your girlfriend looked pissed.”
“I don’t have a girlf- I mean, she’s not my girlfriend.” Now Derek was the one blushing, he was a little ashamed that he had wanted to tell Stiles how single he was even though he was just a kid.He had said goodbye to everyone, but as always Derek refused to let go of his 3-month-old brother.
“It’s time to go now Der, I promise we will take good care of your brother. You know, OUR SON.” Talia insisted with her eyes flashing a little bit of red.It wasn’t the first time that Derek had brought the child with him to work and Stiles had been worried that he might be Derek’s son (not that Derek would not make a great DILF but Stiles was not ready for that kind of commitment… not that he thought he had a chance with him but one can always dream right?) but after a short investigation (he asked Derek) it turned out he was just Derek’s little brother.
“So, Stiles, what happened with that Heather chick at the party?”
“What?” Stiles flailed and turned around to look at Isaac. “Nothing happened.”
“Oh really? The birthday girl kissed you on sight and then dragged you out with some flimsy excuse and nothing happened?”
Stiles cast a glance at Derek. He was still focusing on driving and looking straight ahead but clutching the steering wheel so hard his knuckles were white. He used all the strength he had left to get up before her, took her head in his hands and twisted as hard as he could.
The cracking sound echoed in the alley. He dropped her body as he felt a familiar rush of power go through him. He looked up, his eyes shining bright red, and saw his uncle, mouth agape, staring at him in shock.“Who’s Heather?” Derek finally got the courage to ask. Stiles turned his desk chair around to look at Derek who was still on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
“Wha…Why…She’s no one, just a friend.”
“A friend who kissed you?”
“Yeah, I got plenty of those it seems.”
“What happened at the party?”
“Nothing.”
“It doesn’t sound like nothing.”“I had only used my power intentionally twice. I left my coven, sworn never to use it again. Then Peter showed up at my door. I have no idea how he found me, how he knew about me. He told me about your family and the fire. He wanted me to send him back a day before it happened. He said he wanted to stop it from happening but I knew he meant to kill whoever was responsible.”
“So you said no. Wise decision. But why send me back?”
“I was intrigued and I just…I wanted my powers to do good, at least once. This mark is supposed to be a gift. It only ever brought me pain and sorrow, but I hoped that it could be a gift for you.”
They looked at each other in silence for a moment, Derek seeing the sorrow she had mentioned reflecting in her eyes. She didn’t look older than 30, but her eyes seemed older.
“Did I do good? Is the world better now?” She asked, voice full of hope.
Derek didn’t hesitate before giving her a blinding smile. -

Stiles learns the true meaning of pack.

Bookmarker's Notes
It took Stiles less than a minute to get injured. Not by whatever that was but by Isaac. Who’d been bumped by Scott and accidentally swiped Stiles with his claws. He couldn’t help but compare it to the vampires. One had been holding him hostage when Derek’s pack had showed up. He hadn’t even got a bruise.
He told them he was fine and made them go home. He’d rather sit alone than deal with their guilt. They’d only been gone a few minutes when Derek burst in, eyes burning a bright crimson. He looked pissed. The angriest Stiles had seen him in a while. “What. Happened.” “Fuck. Chill! We did fight something. This was an accident. Scott bumped Isaac who accidentally clawed me. No big deal! Just a few stitches.” “You’re bleeding. It is a big deal.” Derek proceeds to sit and wait with Stiles until he’s done. As they’re leaving, Derek says over his shoulder, “Tell your alpha that I didn’t let him have you just to watch you get hurt. He certainly won’t get to keep you if he doesn’t get his pack sorted out.”
“So we’ve been, like, anthropocentric. You aren’t human so it’s a fundamental error to try and ascribe human motivations and meanings to your actions and behaviour. I only think you act strange because you don’t act human. Because you aren’t human. So this entire time that I’ve thought you have poor social skills, it’s because you, what, aren’t bothering to act human around me? Oh my, god! That explains how you turned into a pod person when you were flirting with that deputy. Because you can act human if you want. But you never have with me…” “You know what I am. Why bother pretending when I don’t have to?” “So that’s what all the shoving was about? Was that common in your family? It doesn’t sound healthy to me. Wait. No, I don’t think I understand.” “I thought you liked playing with me.”
In all the time Stiles has known Derek, never once has he looked more like a predator.
Never once has Stiles actually felt like prey. Not like he does in this moment. It’s odd. Because Derek’s body language is the least threatening Stiles has ever seen. He’s still in that lazy sprawl. Muscles loose and relaxed. He isn’t growling. Isn’t up in Stiles’ face. He’s even smiling. But the smile is sharp. Like his claws. And just as dangerous. He suddenly gets it: all those times in the past, Derek really had been playing with him.
He isn’t playing now.Never enough peace for Derek to establish the needed pack bonds to stabilize the pack and make them all stronger. Derek had been trying his best in the worst kind of situation. Easy to look from the outside and be critical. Stiles isn’t sure he could’ve done better. Sure, he’d have made different choices. Doesn’t mean he would’ve been any more successful.
Stiles was a long-term, forever love kind of guy. Stiles had never had a lot of social needs. Didn’t crave popularity and lots of friends like Scott. He’d been mostly happy with a single friend and his dad. But neither of them had seemed to return his fierce (probably obsessive) devotion. A part of him felt he’d always been destined for a pack, had already been wolf. Maybe that was why Derek had wanted him in the beginning. Why Peter had asked to bite him when he hadn’t asked anyone else, had listened when he said no.
“This is why we could never get along.” “No. We can’t get along because you’re trying to be something you’re not. You aren’t human. Normal isn’t something you can ever be again. You’ll learn as soon as you leave Beacon Hills.” “I’m not going anywhere! And you can’t make me.” Stiles’ eyes widened because that was not a challenge that Derek would let slip. Sure enough, Derek roared and had Scott pinned by his throat faster than Stiles could blink. "Listen closely, Scott. This is the one and only time I’ll explain this to you. Beacon Hills is my territory. You and your pack are here by my sufferance alone. I tolerate you because my uncle bit you without permission. I tolerate most of your pack because I bit them myself. I’ll only tolerate Argents on my territory until graduation. You can get away with pretending to be ‘normal’ and being ignorant about werewolf culture because I allow it. No other alpha will be as tolerant. I have no doubt you and your pack will find trouble the moment you step outside of my territory. So, no, I’m not making you leave. You should probably never leave if you want the best chance at living a normal life. Because I won’t rescue you. I won’t save you. You aren’t pack and aren’t my responsibility. And my tolerance for you will come to a swift end if you attack me or my pack again. Or if you challenge me and my claim to my mate. I’ll have no problems either killing you myself or driving you out of Beacon Hills. Do you understand?” Derek growled in Scott’s face.

Shoto(Roki) runs away from home and is taken in by the infamous vigilante, Black Rabbit—Izuku Midoriya. They grow very close and start falling in love(but it is dense slow burn). Aizawa has been on the Black Rabbit case since the start. He has, over the course of 5 years, fostered trust with Izuku, who fights rough and with little care for villain injuries as he one-ups the police department and heroes with his overwhelming civilian following and support. Aizawa sees him as his son, and his legal son Hitoshi basically assumes they’re unofficial brothers. Shoto enters the hero course while Izuku enters the support course, a brilliant support item inventor and chemist. The staff and students all adopt him because he knows how to win people over and play the role of sunshine child, even though he is a conniving brat. He hates All Might for imprisoning his father, the ex-villain Black Dragon, in Tartarus on his 10th birthday(it is briefly suggested that it was initially a shortsighted/false arrest). Hisashi was an amazing dad and Izuku slowly works on reconciling his love and memories of Hisashi with the role Aizawa has taken in his life. Aizawa loves and looks after Izuku while Izuku and Nezu team up against the teachers(who were trying to hide Izuku’s freakish genius from Nezu for the sake of the universe). Hawks takes up the mantle of big brother in the disjointed Rabbit family—whose goal is to love Izuku and do whatever it takes to keep him out of police or hero hands—with Yamada claiming the role of uncle. Izuku gets tips off of “Uncle” Giran about the USJ attack, where he is able to prevent all injuries besides himself, Aizawa, and Thirteen. Upon leaving Giran, Dabi contacts Izuku requesting for information of Shoto’s meal the and wellbeing. Izuku promises to help him with his quirk and scars, planning to show Shoto the conversation audio to let him decide if they let Toya into their lives or not. When Shigaraki targets Aizawa at the USJ Izuku loses his crap and is terrifying, scaring the crap and the murderous drive right out of Shigaraki.

Unbidden, his mind’s eye calls forth the image of Scott’s body, a shock baton stabbed through his heart. Body still twitching despite the dead, red eyes that looked at nothing and no one.
Isaac. The blond, cherubic curls matted in red. A hint of bone and matter peaking through, where it shouldn’t.
Lydia. Her face frozen in a scream. The first thing they took from her were her vocal cords, and they finished her off with a needle through her head.
Jackson. Left alone. An omega so close to being a beta with a Pack to belong to. Cut in half.
Erica and Boyd. Hard to separate one from the other. Dying from a deep clawing, holding a dead body haloed by long blond curls.
Dad. They said it was a career hazard. A neat hole in the center of his badge.
Melissa. She doesn't know. The hospital flooded with incoming patients.
Deaton’s office. Everything turned over, glass shards and dried blood mixed with ashes.
Peter. Went back to-
Derek, pushed him out of the way. An arrow missing its target found a different heart to hit. Wide, green eyes with a speckle of hazel and grey. “Stiles, run.” Black liquid disturbing a soft, gruff tenor.
He runs faster.“We’re not the same age, and you’re definitely not the same age as Uncle Peter.”
“That’s different,” Stiles replies shortly.
“Uncle Peter says you guys are friends even with a difference of like-" he pauses to exaggeratedly think it over, "-eleven years. We’re friends and the difference in our age is only by a year.”
“So what? We’ve been in the same class since kindergarten. Anything less than knowing each other’s names would be hard to do.” Stiles turns his attention back to the kids, ignoring Derek.
Derek doesn’t understand how him trying to find out more about Stiles and what he does ended with this kind of atmosphere. When he sniffs the air, he can smell Stiles’ annoyance, anger, and that same steady vein of discomfort that appeared when Derek walked over. “You make it sound like a chore.” Knowing me, he finishes silently to himself.
He walks away. Ignoring Stiles’ voice calling him back. Not seeing the pain in those doe-brown eyes. One of the women pulls up her sleeve, revealing an arm covered in runes. The symbols twist across her skin and a flick of her hands sends one of the runes, shaped like an arrow, flying at the she-wolf.
Arrows flying out of her skin are dodged, as Alastair moves closer, golden-eyes shining. With her attention on Alastair, the witch does not notice Lei Xia creeping behind. Before Lei Xia can jump on the witch and claw through her neck, the witch’s arrows stop. The ink on her body manifests into black mid-length whips on each hand. Expertly, she swings arcs around her body in defensive motions. Alastair and Lei Xia turn to each other and they circle. Moving too close, Alastair catches one of the whips on his face, spikes suddenly shooting out at their tips. Aggravated he catches the spikes, uncaring of the pain, and yanks. Unbalancing the witch for a moment, Lei Xia digs her claws through the witch’s other hand and bites at the junction of her neck. When Lei Xia rips her teeth free, a chunk of shoulder and neck comes along followed by a combination of arterial spray and a leaking vein. -

The boy is on the phone, talking with his father – lying to him, actually. Letting go of something they’d both wanted so badly, his chance at glory and getting the girl, without a second thought. There’s a warmth in Derek’s heart he hasn’t felt since Laura died.
And for the first time in the weeks he’s known him, Derek thinks he might need to earn this boy’s trust, and not the other way around. He wants to be someone Stiles can rely on, someone worthy of Stiles’ special brand of self-sacrificing loyalty.“So almost drowning’s kind of our thing, huh? I vote we come up with a new thing.”
The group parts for him to make his way back to Stiles’ side, like it’s natural for him to be there, and he huffs out a disapproving sound, crouching back down to thread his fingers into Stiles’ weary grasp.
“How about you not rushing in like an idiot and nearly getting killed,” he says, gathering Stiles carefully into his arms. “That can be our thing.”
“Hypocrite,” Stiles grumbles into his collar, and Derek smiles. -

It started the way you fall asleep: slowly, then all at once. There wasn’t a single moment of realization for Katsuki Bakugou, no specific point on his mind’s map that he could point to and say, “There! That’s when it happened.” As with all people, he was constantly developing, feelings coming and going, some fading into obscurity, others growing into a deafening crescendo that took over his thoughts, kept him up at night, spread a particularly spectacular brand of ache through him. Slowly, then all at once.

What would Hoseok do what would Hoseok do what would Hoseok do what would — Jungkook puffs out his cheeks, makes a weird high-pitched noise, and darts across the floor to like. Pet Jimin. Into the ground? Or something?
“Are you feeling okay, Hobari?” Jimin mumbles from where he is partially smothered beneath Jungkook’s chest. He sounds confused.
Well. 0 for 1. Clearly Jungkook needs more practice at the whole Convincingly Impersonating Jung Hoseok thing.
(Alternatively: Jungkook and Hoseok switch bodies. Feelings, as they are sometimes wont to do, spring forth.)

Summary
Stiles has encountered a fair share of monsters before, way out of his league - the kinds that children are afraid are hiding in their closets and under the bed.
He’d even become one himself when he was void. The nogitsune was in his house, his body, and his mind.
But the worst monster he’s ever faced took even more from him and got away with it.
It’s why Stiles has never really been as terrified of werewolves and kanimas and darachs as he should have been. They’re really not that scary, relatively speaking, and he has a whole team on his side. They always found a way to win - until they lost someone they really loved.
Stiles doesn’t know how to be normal, not after everything he’s done and everyone he’s hurt. The nogitsune is gone, but another monster is on its heels.
His uncle is back. And Stiles has never felt more alone.

Bookmarker's Notes
“Well, tell me all about it over a burrito and fries. Just follow me to Miguel’s. Not your restaurant. A different Miguel.”
Derek scoffs to cover up a half-smile. “Of all the names to pull out of nowhere. You couldn’t have gone with something mysterious and Italian?”
Stiles leans out the window to yell at Derek as he walks back to the driver’s side of his car. “You mean like Mario? Or Luigi?”When Derek strikes a match and lights the candle, holding the cupcake up to Stiles’ face, Stiles doesn’t wish for anything when he blows out the flame. So much has happened in the past year - so much has happened to him, been forced on him - that it makes wishing seem like his life is still helplessly out of control, and it’s not. Even if he wishes for an external force to make all of his problems go away, that’s meaningless. It isn’t going to happen. And he needs to save himself, not whisper into the ether for something else to do it for him.
“You know,” Derek says, “there’s that concept that people are the hero in their own stories. People like Kate and Gerard, they think they’re the heroes, no matter what they do. But for some reason, you see yourself as the villain when you’re not.”
“So I can’t wait to throw that back in his face, like, look, DAD, look who likes me and my rainbow of plaid shirts,” Stiles continues, gesturing in big circles at Derek. “This wondrous vision. Of steely glares and thigh muscles that could kill a horse.”
Derek nods. “That is exactly what I want engraved on my tombstone.”“Okay.” Noah’s gaze sweeps across the room quickly. “Have a good night.”
He turns to leave, pulling the door shut behind him. Eyes wide in exaggeration, Stiles gasps at Derek. “My dad wants me to get laid.”
“I didn’t get that from him at all.”The bigger bed is a pleasant upgrade, despite Stiles’ earlier insistence that he didn’t need one. Derek finds him starfished out, taking up most of the room and pointing to a sliver of space on the right side.
“That’s for you,” Stiles offers generously.“It can be really dark, you know?” Derek goes on, his eyes taking on a faraway glaze until he blinks and it’s gone. “To be young and think you’ll always be alone on an island. Like love is something other people have, and it’s not for you. I didn’t think I could ever have that again. But now I do.”
“So what do you think it’ll be like? When we finally have sex.”
“Well …” Derek mulls over, “it goes without saying - simultaneous orgasms.”
Stiles laughs. “Of course. And double rainbows outside on a cloudless day.”
“I think an angel might even get its wings.”
“It’s basically a cure for death.”
Derek quirks an eyebrow. “Seriously, though? I think … I don’t think it’ll be … it’ll feel like a big deal and it will be, but also … it’s not this end-all, be-all thing. I don’t want it to be. I want it to be important, but not like everything’s hinging on that. Our relationship, you feeling like you’ve put your past behind you. Am I making sense?”
“Yeah,” Stiles nods. “Yeah, you are. I want that, too.”
“Sex won’t be perfect, like teach-a-class-on-it perfect. But I promise you’ll feel loved and safe.”“You know, I didn’t even know at first by the way you smelled. You were still dealing with the nogitsune fallout, but it was more than that. I only started paying attention to that once I realized something was really off.”
“So what made you suspect anything to begin with?”
Derek reaches over with his other arm and brushes a thumb across Stiles’ cheek. “Your eyes,” he answers, because no one carries hurt in their eyes like Stiles Stilinski.“You have way more willpower than I ever gave you credit for, Stiles.” Still in stunned disbelief, Lindsay furiously sips at her iced tea. “Because I would have jumped Derek on the first date. Possibly right at our table in the restaurant.”
Stiles’ friends start chattering around him, but the conversation fades to the background as he pulls out his phone and shoots Derek a text. “Lindsay wants to fuck you in the middle of an Olive Garden.”
Derek replies immediately. “What?” Then a minute later, “I’m sure this makes perfect sense, if I knew the joke. Tell her I’m a man of means and we can go to Macaroni Grill.”What happened to Stiles didn’t just happen to him. It happened to the people he holds so dear to him, too. Even though Scott didn’t know about it until an hour ago, it still affects him. And it doesn’t just change Stiles’ relationships with them. It changes their relationships with each other. Stiles saw it firsthand between his dad and Derek - as much as Noah was already okay with Derek as a boyfriend before he found out about Clay, he closed ranks with Derek like they were family once he knew the truth.
It’s no stretch that something would also shift between Scott and Derek. -

Bookmarker's Notes
Though Scott wasn’t an incompetent leader, at some point in the last few years his way of seeing the world had begun to morph from True Alphas always do the honorable thing to the far less appealing It’s an honorable thing because it’s a True Alpha doing it.
“You don’t get to explain this idiocy away with your position in the Pack. An Alpha negotiates first, attacks second. An Alpha nurtures and protects first, punishes and controls second. This, right now?” He waved at the five people on the floor, “This is the behavior of the leader of an unstable Pack or a desperate despot. Or, you know, a giant douche who is douche-like. What you’re doing right now? This is not the act of a real Alpha.”
“I sense the soul. I scream when the soul is about to be ripped from the vessel it does not wish to leave. I cannot stop it, but I can sometimes delay it. I can soothe souls not yet torn but tormented, I can guide ones that are lost, I can influence some others.”
“A Spark naturally collects... I naturally collect and can direct the magic that exists around us all. I can’t control how much or little flows through me, and attempting to expand or block it in anyway could be dangerous. Purpose and belief are key, so lack of focus or change of intent can alter everything.”He walked past Cora’s, Jackson’s, and Kohaku’s rooms in turn, clicking each door open and leaving them just undone so that he could clearly hear each of their heartbeats. None of them complained. Whether that was because they liked knowing their Alpha was watching out for them, or just because they were indulging his inclinations, he didn’t know. He didn’t mind either way.
Despite being able to hear three hearts beating strongly, his Alpha instincts weren’t satisfied that his Pack was safe... the moment Stiles had stepped inside the Hale house this morning Derek had admitted to himself that he’d been thinking of Stiles as Pack rather than just a friend.
I’m seriously impressed by your fancy-pants literary habit, by the way. You’ll have to read your favorites to me. I always loved bedtime stories.
He thought, again, of the not-declaration Derek had made last night, and the fact that he’d not-declared back. He was strangely unconcerned by the fact that Derek hadn’t replied. He would when he was ready.
“The first-time round, the main reason I wasn’t ready to be an Alpha was because I hadn’t realized that my mother, and the other good Alphas we knew, didn’t see themselves at the top of a pyramid. All of the outstanding Alphas I met in the last couple of years seemed to know that to do what they needed to for their Packs, they were always going to be at the bottom of the pyramid, holding everyone else up. Sitting at the top and making everyone else carry your weight as well as their own isn’t right. But Scott sees himself as high above all of his less important Pack members.”
“We protect what’s important and vulnerable. Human, then Banshee and Spark, and then each other. No matter how magically powerful Stiles and Lydia are they’ll probably still bleed like John if they get hurt.”
Derek tossed the guy away and launched himself sideways, descending to a crouch over Stiles’ dad. Derek wasn’t in full-shift, but at a quick glance he’d have appeared to be. Another of the Hyenas stepped closer to him, apparently thinking that Derek being on his knees was somehow going to make him an easier target. And, well, Stiles knew Derek wouldn’t let anything else happen to Stiles’ dad.
Stiles blinked and nodded and then swallowed. Derek looked at him with his eyebrows missing and his fangs out and eyes deep, deep red and growled out, “I guard my Pack with my life.”
Released from the hold or not, Derek stayed where he was, not conceding his place of guardianship over Stiles’ dad.
Stiles tore his eyes away from that, and ignoring the others moving around, looked into Derek’s waiting human face and said, “Don’t you dare let go of him.”
“I won’t.”John’s control was truly extraordinary for a new Bite, but no one had a problem with him not being able to resist the urge he had to hug his son. Cora watched for a moment, said, “Fuck it,” and stepped forward to wrap her arms around both of the Stilinskis. It was soon everyone, including Lydia, as she was dragged in by Kohaku.
Derek let Jackson pull him in and took in the scent of them all together. He let it fill his lungs and reach into his veins and finally managed to say, “Our Emissary is right, we should go.” Jackson looked at him dolefully. Derek added, “There will be time for more Pack-hugs after what we need to do is done.”“Teasha would like to meet so she can make a formal offer to carry a child for the Hale Alpha Pair.”
All the air rushed out of Stiles’ chest. Derek squeezed his hand and his eyes were wet at the corners. Today was going to be even better than yesterday.
