"Promise me!" Nate yelled, yanking a fist full of Jack's hoodie. "Promise me, that no matter what... You'll always stay by Grace's side, protecting her and her smile. Promise me that or I won't let you have her."
Jack and Nate's eyes locked.
"I promise. I won't let anything happen to her."

"Things would have been different if I had only just said no. If I did, I would have had a relationship with my sister, cousin, and our friend Olaf. I would have never given up ice skating. I would have never had to go to therapy for a year. And most importantly...that man would still be alive. On Christmas Eve it will be exactly six years since the accident happened. Anna doesn't remember any of it, and I had to swear not to ever tell her. I sometimes envy her for having no knowledge of what really happened. She forgot, but me? I'll remember that day until the day I die."
When Elsa's parents leave for business over seas, they send Elsa and her sister to live with their aunt, uncle, and cousin in Burgess; the same town where an accident took place years before that resulted in the death of a local man. Elsa is still being haunted by the memory of that day, and to make matters worse, after years of being home-schooled, she's being put into a public high school for her senior year. Worst of all, she has classes with a boy that looks dreadfully similar to the dead man's son. She knows deep down that it really is him, and from the way he keeps staring at her she knows that he remembers her too.
