They have no memories because they have never had any to start with.
As an adult, not knowing how to talk or walk or read is going to make saving the entire world very difficult.
And, damn it all, Chara is NOT okay with being replaced!
But once they calm down, (and Frisk takes off their old clothes), things will be JUST fine.
