Victor stood, watching Yuuri as he climbed into the tub. “You take my breath away.”
Yuuri looked around, confused, and then sank down into the hot water.
“The lines of your muscles as you move,” Victor explained, taking off his own shirt. “The curve of your ass. Your neck. Your shoulders. The tiny silver lines on your sides. The way your hair has a mind of its own.” He pushed his pants down and stepped out of them. “The way your cheeks turn pink and I don’t know if it’s because of the bath or because we’re naked or because I’m saying nice things about you.”
He stepped into the tub, and drifted over to wrap himself loosely around Yuuri. “The fact that I get to do this and you don’t pull away. It’s amazing I still breathe at all.”

A guilty conscience has been gnawing at the red reaper for several years for a wrong done in the heat of jealousy. Though she made her peace with the one whom she hurt, she feels it is necessary to make peace with the man who still loves the one she hurt. In order to be forgiven by him, she must first dive into the darkness of his despair before she can experience enlightenment.
***Recommended reading: Part 1 (Unnecessary Shadows) of the series, especially chapter 25 onward and Part 4 (Unnecessary Object), especially chapter 8 onward for context. Hopefully, you've read it anyway since this ties together the narrative of the entire series, including the final multi chap yet to come.***
Or you can read it just because you can, which I think you should.
Slightly updated summary. Yay!
***Disclaimer*** I do not own Kuroshitsuji or its characters. That honor goes to Yana Toboso.
- Part 5 of Unnecessary Shadows
This is a direct sequel to my fic "The Longest Hours." You can jump in here if you want, but if you do, you need to know:
1). In the first fic, both Viktor and Yuuri were suicidal post-Sochi GPF and met each other on the hotel roof, where they talked each other out of jumping
2). Yuuri was supposed to be on a medication that got left behind in Detroit and was experiencing withdrawal symptoms, which contributed to his suicidal state.
3). Viktor is very in the closet because Russian homophobia is a real and dangerous thing in this AU.
4). Viktor's tragic backstory is a thing. TL;DR: his mother tried to kill him and then killed herself when he was 12, and he was disowned by his father at 19 for getting involved with another man.
5). Those two things combined let Vitya to his suicidal state.
6). They fall in love quickly, even if they don't call it that for a long time.
I'd be happiest if you gave the first part a glance before this, though. I worked really hard on it!

The Conduit is reborn, but she is not the same woman Undertaker was fiercely devoted to prior to her "death". Chaos reigns in her heart as she becomes acquainted with forgotten memories and her true feelings. Meanwhile, corruption abounds in the reaper's realm with the upcoming hearings for all involved in the fight over the Conduit in the library. Even worse, Undertaker's existence is at stake for his role in the affair. However, a certain member of the Council is willing to lend his hand to help those involved in the incident to absolve them of their actions...all but one, while also working to end the corruption that has been long infecting the realm. Secrets, lies, and corruption are finally revealed. But, the question remains: How does the corruption of Undertaker's former homeworld tie into the Condiut's ancient Prophecy, and will he live or will he die?
***RECOMMENDED READING*** Parts 1 and 4. This picks up where part 4 left off.
