Riku has a rare sickness and very rarely leaves his specially designed room. His family and their friends and their children often come to visit but he is very lonely. He can see the strain that his illness is taking on his family and it just depresses him even more.
The Original Digidestined still have the jobs that they had at the end of 02 but they went in together on a cafe/book shop/Cyber Cafe where people can come and log on to the virtual world of EDEN in a safe space. Matt manages it and Riku's room is in the back.
The Digidestined kids have formed a team called The Tamers and one day while they are logged on they are hacked and given the Digimon Capture program. From there they raise Digimon and protect Earth, Digiworld, and EDEN from threats.

Ferris, Mila, Ruby, and Kalev, are chosen to be the new Digidestined, along with Cody. Inexperienced and afraid, they must deal with a threat from another universe. Powers of the multiverse make their presence known to support them. All the while a threat from the Digital World’s ancient past works against them
As have likely gathered from the title I am ignoring Tri for this story, I have nothing against Tri, in fact I think I enjoy it more than most. I am only doing so so that I can tell my own story, one that couldn’t be told if Tri was taken into consideration. I will also only be loosely sticking to the 02 epilogue, knowing that certain characters survive takes away from the suspense of stories, and also it’s just hard to explain why our new characters aren’t there.
You may have noticed the “our” in the last paragraph, that is because while I am the writer I have consulted with other friends of mine who are Digimon fans (and some who aren't) to help with character concept and design. One in particular has been very helpful, you know who you are, and thank you.
