A cold dread fills Yuuri as he takes in the sight before him. At the end of the market is a stage, and on it kneels an omega. His hair is long, looking like spun silver in two braids resting on his shoulder and down his chest. He has his head slightly lowered, Yuuri only seeing the slope of his nose and his sliver eyelashes lowered on his cheeks.
“What- what is this?” Yuuri asks. The man must be a criminal, Yuuri persumes, but it feels like such an odd place to have someone who has committed crimes displayed. Princess Anna stops beside him and follows Yuuri’s gaze.
“Oh, it’s an omega for sale,” she answers, as if it’s as normal as buying the candy Yuuri has in his pocket to buy an omega.Yuuri wants to scream and grab the omega and run away from there with him, right now. Take him somewhere where he’s safe and he doesn't have to be afraid. Before he’s even aware of what he’s doing Yuuri's straightening, looking straight up at the guard.

There is a new omega on screen, black short hair falling softly over his forehead, messy, but in a cute way. Almost as if it’s been styled to look like he just crawled out of bed, effortlessly beautiful. He’s in glasses, blue framed, deep brown eyes wide behind the lenses. He has a delicate nose, high but soft cheekbones, plump pink lips and a soft crimson blush coloring his cheeks. It’s only his face and upper body that’s visible on screen, and he’s in a soft looking knitted sweater, cream color complementing his skin perfectly. The customary collar around his neck is black, covering his scent glands while still drawing attention to his graceful neck. He’s gorgeous. Utterly breathtaking, and Victor can’t help but lean forward, eyes wide and ears focused on the lovely being on the screen.

Viktor's blood had run cold when he'd opened it, the letter on his table a collaboration between the Russian Omega Centre, the International Athletics department and the St. Petersburg Civil Registry, that had told Viktor, in no uncertain terms, that he had been put on a waiting list for willing alphas to take care and look after him. The RSF was loathe to let him go, it had written, and so they had come to an agreement with the ROC that, as long as Viktor kept winning and making the country proud, they would overlook the fact that he was presented and unbonded.Viktor didn't need to open the letter to know that it would be different, knew that his spiteful and passive-aggressive protest against some of last season's judging and preference would be unwelcome, but still. The bright orange of the Omega Centre was a pain to look at, but Viktor still opened the letter carefully, hoping against all odds that it was only a reprimand for not being omega enough, as some of the associates and doctors had put.
Later that day he called Yakov, regretfully informing his coach that a suitable mate had been chosen in an arrangement with International Athletics who would compliment Viktor's nature.

“You must find me foolish if you think you can sweet talk me like this,” Yuuri says as he casts his eyes down on the gravel road, taking half a step away from the alpha to create more distance between them. “You may be very handsome and charming but I can not disgrace my family in such a way to become a nobleman's whore.”
The words are curt and cunning, but no less true for it. Yuuri could not turn up at his parent’s house round with pregnancy or with an infant in his arms and no mate. They are struggling enough as it is to make the inn go round. They do not need two more mouths to feed.
