It was Morse. Detective Constable Morse, here at the crime scene at nine o’clock at night wearing a goddamn sword. Morse, who even in the bright splash of sunlight, had no shadow.

    Summary

Before the events of Arcadia, after Morse’s return in Ride, the detective constable is sent out to look over a sudden death and finds himself caught up in a double homicide, both bodies arranged in symbolic manners that reflect the works of the acclaimed bard. A message from the killer indicates that this is not the end, merely the beginning of his work. The spirit of Mason Gull shows it’s hand in this, but dead men don’t walk, and they certainly don’t kill. Could it be the work of an accomplice? Or a much more convoluted and sinister plot than Morse realizes? With cryptic clues and madness at every turn, the Oxford City Police must race against the clock to save the potential victims, especially when one of their own lies at risk.

    Summary

Fred Thursday could never have imagined that it would turn out that his bagman was the head of a magical police force. Nor could he have expected that he would learn of a tragedy that had robbed Morse of everything he'd held dear, years ago. And then things got even more complicated, as he struggled to keep a grasp on the facts in more ways than one while working on a supernatural case. Magical Realism AU.

    Summary

“Come in for a cuppa -- Win won’t mind,” Thursday wheedles.

He expects the awkward, close-lipped smile he receives.

“No, I should,” Morse jerks his head at the car, “But thank you,”

Sighing, Thursday watches him hunch inward, favoring his left leg. Since winter descended he’s shrunk like a withering flower. His eyes are so wide he looks closer to fifteen than thirty two.

Thursday glares at him, “When’s the last time you had something to eat?”

Morse’s eyes are watering from the cold. He scuffs his shoe against the ground, “Lunch,”

He scoffs, “At least you had the sense to tell that lie to the pavement,”

    Summary

This one is different. Morse must undergo training to continue at the police department. He has strange visions of the future.

Once again, I have widged around with many events and people in the timeline. This story is, once again, outside the usual time arc. This is set just before series six. It’s named after two anachronistic songs.

“But today / all the lights went out in Heaven” - Marcy Playground, “All the Lights Went Out,” 1999

And, of course: “There is a light, and it never goes out” - from the song of the same name
    - The Smiths, 1986

Crackers are the American term for a rectangular or circular light baked bread snack.

The plot refers to a man who catches a precursor of AIDS, called Kaposi’s sarcoma. It involved nodes appearing on the patient’s body, which looked like fingertips. At the time, few treatments were available, and many patients just lingered and died. Now, there are various treatments for AIDS.

The Thames Valley Police have an Instragram: https://www.instagram.com/thamesvalleypolice/

The story contains foul language, graphic violence, and sexual situations. It also contains the death of a VERY major character.

    Thanks for reading.

    Summary

“What are you afraid of, Morse?”

Right now he supposes he should be worried about the blade clutched in her grip, but he’s not. That’s just a fly buzzing around his ears. No, right now the world is swallowing him up, teeth chomping through flesh and bone; it’s hot and suffocating and no one is clawing at the monster in some attempt to rescue him. He’s going to die, alone, with no one to shed a tear for him.

    Summary

"I never really liked the police" might not have been the most uplifting last words his dad could have said to him, but Morse decided as soon as he realized he was dead that those were the ones he’d utter if someone asked.
His real last words had been much, much worse.
    "You’re not even my son."
But even knowing this, he could never have foreseen who his real father would turn out to be.

“When it jumps, you run,” Morse’s voice rings out desperately. There is no hope to be found in remaining quiet, therefore his voice, unsteady and full of finality, is loud in an unfamiliar way.

    Summary

So a series of College AU meet-cute ideas were posted on Tumblr a couple of months ago. I took them and ran.

This is the first: “You’re the RA, and you’re trying to bust me for having hermit crabs.”

It made me laugh b/c on my floor I had a ten-gallon tank with an enormous goldfish named Vanessa, one girl had a teddy bear hamster named Penfold (yes, from Danger Mouse), and two other girls had a menagerie: a rat named Salome, a bird, a betta fish, and two mice. If there were rules against pets, at least small ones, we never heard about it. One guy tried to adopt a gopher snake he’d caught, but he had to put it back where he found it b/c it was so obviously unhappy (which is how the two girls ended up with the mice— the snake hid from them rather than eating them). The chief RA not only knew about the shenanigans on Beckett III, he used to ask me how Vanessa was doing.

So many characters in this, all from the show.

    Summary

Set in Oxford and elsewhere. Early 1970. Terror strikes at a choir practice. Similar destruction follows. Morse and Lewis set to work. Political escalation leads to disaster. The police struggle to bring a stop to the horror.

This story is in line with my previous stories, and follows after “Fire.” The stories, in order, are as follows: “Shadow,” “Union,” “Eagle,” “River,” “Paradise,” “Fire,” and then this one. "Athena" and "Monument" are outside the sequence.

A precinct is a term for a police station.

I made up a name for Joan’s aunt. If I got it wrong, someone please let me know. I will post a corrected version of the story.

There was no TV show named ‘2000’ in 1970. I made it up. EMTs are ambulance workers.

I am not trying to encourage violence with this story, just depict it as a crime. Please note this page on IRA weaponry: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ira/inside/weapons.html

I have taken ‘artistic license’ with some aspects of the U.K. government. Please forgive me for any errors or excesses.

Story contains foul language, graphic violence, and sexual situations.

I hope you enjoy the story.

    Summary

This is a difficult story. It's very dark. I considered not publishing it, but I spent a long time working on it.

It's another non-linear, non-canonical story. It takes place toward the end of the fourth season, and has no connection with my other stories.

I use a mixture of American and U.K. slang terms.

Some events have been changed, as to where they appear in the usual time sequence.

The story begins at the time Endeavour went over to Joan’s flat, and Joan mentions that he never “tried it on” with her.

I have taken “artistic license” with some characters. I added Robert Lewis and George Fancy to the story. I have also invented a name for Supt. Bright’s wife.

Note the last paragraph here: https://www.inbrief.co.uk/offences/assault-gbh-abh/ Also, community service means: Unpaid work, intended to be of social use, that an offender is required to do instead of going to prison. (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/community_service)

There are scenes of foul language, graphic depictions of violence, and sexual situations. Story contains the death of one minor character and one major character. Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoy.

"I know something's happened, John, I just know it!"
Mrs Smithson turned her back on the window to face her husband, eyes imploring him to listen to her.
"Calm down Marie, I'm sure she's just being a bit too careful with the snow." John replied, putting his arm around his wife. "Adie's better to be safe than sorry, with all this slush around."
