Typically, the day was supposed to be a normal day. It was supposed to be a normal day for Phil Craft and his wife Kristin Craft. The Reaper and her Angel, as people called them, because of their respective manifestations.
Normally, Phil would be tending after the house and various crows that followed him and his wife. Normally not trying to not lose his shit pacing in the hall of a hospital. His wife was pregnant and the doctors weren’t letting him in the room.

Truth be told, Wilbur had had this heavy boulder on his chest since he'd returned from the beach trip Tommy led him on that afternoon. It had been hours, but the horrific weight wouldn't relieve itself. So now he just lay there, waiting for himself to work up the courage to come within even a foot of its general vicinity. He knew, deep inside, that it would be a while before he could do it alone, but he really didn't see anyone else prompting him. Prime, he felt like a piece of shit.

“I’m alive,” a dead man whispered. And for a second he was at peace, overwhelming euphoria pulsing in every vein. He could see Tommy again, he didn't have to be alone, he could shower and he could touch leaves and eat sand and feel pain Then Wilbur opened his eyes.
Reality shifted as he was overwhelmed by bright flashing color. People Wilbur had never met bustled around him in numbers that he had never seen. Everything seemed oddly unfamiliar, strange floating lights bobbing happily and weird loud minecart like things zooming past on roads. No one seemed to be blinking an eye at Wilbur's sudden appearance, walking on with purpose.
Wait what?
The store was unironically selling magic books, actual magic books not a single word of enchantment table on there.
And as the final breaths of daylight kissed the horizon, the city came to life. Bright lights flickered on of every color, some slowly changing. Wilburs breath was taken away even as his brain was whirring, the city looked beautiful like this. Washed in color and lights that floated after their owners cheerily.
It was then that wilbur realized this was not his universe.

Wilbur sat up, finding himself previously lying down staring up at the ceiling into a light. He blinked his eyes slowly as his surroundings clicked into focus all at once. The voice continued.
“If you believe you have mistakenly left a personal item inside the mall, please contact the security team at the number listed by the front entrance. Thank you for choosing Watson Center Mall! We hope to see you again soon.”
