    Summary

This is me adding my grain of sand in the many, many theories about the mystery of Rey. Lately the "Anakin Skywalker reborn" theory has been getting a lot of attention. While I love the complexity of the Skywalker patriarch, I don't think this would be a good idea for the new trilogy. However, reincarnation is fascinating stuff so I'm all for it so long as it's done right, hence my spin on that particular origin.

    Summary

“Miss Rey,” her social worker says from behind their desk, gesturing at this strange man. “I’d like to introduce you to Wedge Antilles. He’s your mother’s brother. Your maternal uncle.”

The man – her uncle, Wedge, the only relation she has left in this world – smiles at her. He leans over, and offers her a hand to shake. “Hello Rey,” he says, eyes wide like he can’t believe she’s real. “I’ve been looking for you for a long time.”

Rey had given up any hope of finding a family, until Wedge Antilles – her mother’s estranged brother – appears in her life.

    Summary

“Rey? Rey, you’re… Rey you’re crying, are you alright?”

Crying? Is she crying? Rey raises a shaking hand to her face and feels the slippery hot slide of tears on her cheek and she finds herself gasping, struggling for breath.

Poe’s concern earns glances from the crew tending to the fighters on the deck- including the sharp eyes of the General, who begins walking across the tarmac towards them. Rey rips her eyes away from the crease of Poe’s brow and alarmed questions and finds his eyes across the tarmac, General Antilles’ dark, solemn gaze.

The roaring thunder in her head drowns out everything but the sharp crack of a flight helmet hitting the deck. A flurry of emotions flicker across the man’s face - shock, disbelief, and fragile, tentative hope. He looks like a man ready to fall apart at any moment, he looks like how Rey feels.

    Summary

They left the tarmac, Finn holding her hand tightly and Poe with his arm around her shoulders loosely, and she felt warm and loved and surrounded in the best of ways; as if the Force had been made into people and the people were ones she adored above everything else. Skywalker told her that that was a good thing, sometimes; that the old Jedi Order had it wrong in a lot of ways. The old Jedi Order had been afraid of love and attachments and passion and ideals, because they looked at the sith and saw their passions as their downfalls.

Skywalker argued that it was what their passions were about that were their downfall, and Rey thought she understood.
