His parents were deceased years ago. He can do whatever he wants without being constantly judged by those scrutinizing gazes from his parents. No longer does he have to feel those lingering eyes filled with utter distaste and disappointment.
However, it wasn’t their death that led him to walk away deep into the night of their funeral. It wasn’t because he could no longer find himself staying at that house that only stores depressing memories. It wasn’t because of those that he now suffers from poverty…

There's something that wasn't mentioned though. All the reborn demons retain their memories of the past, while the demon slayers have no promise of ever having any of their memories back.
Based on the events of chapter 205, this story will follow our beloved characters living through the modern world after having been reborn.

In the modern era, Tanjiro struggles to communicate his experiences with his friends no matter how they're separated by language or culture. His reality can seem stranger than fiction, and it's sometimes none too kind. By the time he decides to change careers and start something new, the damage is more than skin-deep. Maybe he doesn't need fixing, but being away from old friends for so long probably isn't helping.
What may have happened if the characters wrote their own stories, but reality was stranger. Though it meant something to Tanjiro, he clings to the thought that none of it was real.
Highly introspective, the prologue covers a gap of 20 years from the finale, from Tanjiro's perspective.
