He has no way to realize that in Westchester, 'slave,' means something more like, 'an indentured servant who has human rights and whose owner is responsible for their care and keeping to the terms of the indenture contract.'
So of course, he can't possibly exploit the beautiful boy he finds in his bed. Charles is extremely put out by this.
