Post Captain America Civil War fix-it:For the first time in their entire acquaintance, Tony and Steve start having really honest conversations with each other via text message, of course.
Or Tony and Steve try to repair their relationship before the next apocalypse. This may take a while. Actually, battling blue and/or purple aliens would be preferable to working through their feelings.

After Bucky finds out about Steve and Tony's secret relationship they ask that he keep it a secret. This task proves more difficult than originally planned as Tony and Steve get him in more and more compromising situations. It's really a miracle they managed to keep it secret this long.

Sam and Rhodey are done with the fact that their best friends are so stubborn, oblivious, clueless, and hopeless. They've tried everything to get Steve and Tony to admit their feelings for the other, but - short of locking them in a room together and throwing away the key - there isn't much they can do. So they decide to just drink away their annoyance at their friends, every Friday night, and a friendship is born.
The problem is, things are rarely that uncomplicated.

Everyone on the team knew about the tally system.
Whenever Steve would save Tony - whether from a monster or from his own stupidity - he’d say, “tag”. Whenever Tony do the same, he’d say, “your turn”. Thor thought it was adorable, Clint thought it was ridiculous, Bruce refused to register an opinion.
Natasha thought it was something she could work with.

“Pepper, today I met my arch nemesis.”
“Again? Really? Is this another Justin Hammer situation?”
“I don’t hate him, Buck. He’s just some rich kid that’s being forced to do charity work by his dad. It just pisses me off that he doesn’t actually care. You know how much stuff like this means to me.”
Or: A Steve/Tony College AU. Tony attempts to “reform” his public image by doing charity work. Steve volunteers at said charity. They meet and kind of hate each other. Then, somehow, they end up friends. And one day Tony realizes he might be a little bit in love with Steve, which wouldn’t be that bad if Steve weren’t pretty much straight. Next comes a bet, a kiss, a minor sexuality crisis, a secret relationship, and a whole lot of boys being stupidly repressed about their feelings.
