Four times Todoroki Shouto smoked a cigarette because he wanted to anger his father, and one time he did it because he needed the respite.Shouto was waiting with bated breath for when Endeavor would finally snap, and quite frankly, it was exhausting. If Shouto had been walking on eggshells around the man before, it was nothing in comparison to present. Endeavor had promised to be better, had sworn up and down that he felt guilty, but what were paltry words when he had years of abuse under his belt to negate them?
The fact remained that Shouto had been waiting for a good long while, and he was growing rather tired of it. He needed concrete evidence, a way to know for certain that Endeavor was a changed man – and what better way to do that than to piss him off enough that he became violent? Theoretically, of course, because had Endeavor actually changed, he wouldn’t hit his son over something so trivial as a cigarette.
