Summary
Meaningless, hopeless, dark, empty. Eliot could go on with all of the adjectives that could describe his feelings at the present moment. This wasn’t always the case, prior to him waking up from being held hostage by the monster there were different words and different meanings. Hope, willingness, BRAVERY, LOVE. All of the things that had him holding on to the possibility of being in control of his body again. The possibility that he would get the opportunity to act upon his feelings that he had been suppressing for who knows how long now. To actually be able to feel everything that he has been holding back and not letting himself feel simply because he was afraid.
While Eliot is grieving the loss of Quentin our ragtag group of favorite magicians have found a ritual to bring back Q from the underworld. The catch of the ritual? It needs to be performed by Quentin's true love, and it hasn't worked for Alice.

The Monster makes a friend, growth ensues ✨
--
There was something about The Monster that seemed so…genuine about this though. Maybe it was the way they were fidgeting more than usual, or the fact that they’d actually asked Julia for hair advice before leaving the house, or maybe it was just the high of a frozen yogurt outing with no kill count. Regardless, Quentin gestured for them to sit beside him on the couch, “We get to know them. We ask them about the things that they like, and we tell them about the things that we like. We hold hands and eat together, we share with each other and, uh, talk about our days. Compliments, too.” -

Summary
She stops, nailing Julia with an iron stare, a High King stare. “This is fucked up, you know that, right? This is fucked up, and it is actively fucking us up, because Quentin is dead and gone and the longer we spend trying to bring him back and failing, the harder it gets to actually deal with it.”
Julia takes a breath. Counts - 1, 2, 3; lets it out. “I’m not giving up yet.”

Summary
She wanted to scream. She wanted to strangle someone. She wanted to set this entire fucking forest on fire and then hike up Mount Olympus and stab any surviving gods she found there in the chest. Repeatedly. But more than anything, she wanted someone to fucking fix it. To un-fuck the world. To take the garbage fire that the universe had become and turn it into something better, a place where people could love each other and carve out some small sliver of happiness without everything turning to violence and pain. She wanted the spiral of chaos to change into something she could deal with: something she could control.
Margo Hanson was a goddamned king. Not a princess. Not a damsel in need of rescue. If the world needed saving, she’d do it her damned self.

Summary
The first thing they had done when they'd realized Q was nowhere to be found inside the castle was to send a bunny to Earth. Their missive (Is Quentin with you?) to Julia and Alice was returned instantly (No. Why? Everything okay?).
“Margo, I need you to tell me everything’s fine,” Eliot said, when the day had passed without any sign of Q. “Make me fucking believe it, because I feel like I’m about to lose my shit.”
“Everything’s fine,” Margo said, and Eliot’s hand went to his hair and tugged, hard. She hadn’t even managed to sound a little bit convincing. “I’m sure everything’s fine.”
“He could be hurt,” Eliot said, the words scraping out of him. “What if - what if he’s hurt, Margo, god, I feel like my heart is - is - ” he didn’t really have the words to describe it to her. Obviously he was scared out of his mind, had been getting steadily more and more frantic as the day went on.
But it was more than simple fear. It was the absolute knowledge that he didn’t know who he was anymore without Quentin, that any sense of himself was going to fly entirely out the window if he lost - if he lost - “Fuck this. Fuck this, where the fuck could he be? I need ideas.”

Summary
When Alice saw the figure standing there, her first, improbable thought, was Eliot. But, no-- that wasn’t-- it was a young woman. Younger than Alice, even, probably. She had on leather boots that went up to her thighs over leather leggings, and a long, drapey-- Renaissance Fair-style (Fillorian, she hissed inside, you know it’s Fillorian) blouse. Her thick black hair was pushed back over one shoulder and her eyes--
“Holy shit,” the girl-- woman-- said under her breath, her mouth curling into an uncanny almost-grin, as Alice stared like an idiot.
“Alice Quinn,” she said suddenly, straightening up to her full height-- taller than Alice. “I’m Quentin Coldwater’s daughter from the future,” she said, like she’d rehearsed it-- that was the easier part for Alice to focus on, the delivery. “And I need you to help me save my family.”
Or: Alice saves Queliot, and saves the world. And just maybe figures out who she's always been.
