    Summary

In which Daniel and Johnny had made peace with each other after The All Valley tournament. They had been avoiding getting into fights and also been ignoring each other. Everything was going well, just like it used to be.

Until one day while leaving the library late for his assignment, Johnny finds Daniel lying on the stairs, trying to get back up with a bad knee and a twisted ankle. And of course he had to carry him to his car and drive him home, he was feeling guilty after all.

But one thing leads to another and Johnny finds himself getting help from LaRusso for his assignment: A paper on The Epic of Gilgamesh. The Epic of Gilgamesh, a.k.a the oldest book known in history of mankind and also the most homosexual text one could ever read.

Rainy afternoons in the library with LaRusso, working on a lame ass assignment shouldn’t be that fun, right? Wrong. Johnny was very, very wrong.

    ---

“Most sources say Gilgamesh and Enkidu have a homoerotic relationship.” Daniel said as he flipped through the pages."

      “Homo-what?”

      “Homoerotic.”

Daniel rolled his eyes when he saw that Johnny was still looking at him with confused eyes.

      “They are gay, Johnny.”

    Summary

Let me tell you the story of a monster, and the story of me.

Before the hero was born there was another kind of monster, a tyrant. Before the tyrant there were the gods who built him, fearing their own fall. Who was to blame but them when their creation turned into something even worse than their puppet? When the king became a tyrant, the gods built another monster entirely to face him. That was their second great mistake.

From their mistakes there came adventure, loss, pain, and the promise to seek life. The old monster will die, and something else will take his place—a hero.

    Summary

The outraged thrill of a divine challenge went singing through his veins. Was it his hubris that had enticed them to dare meddle in his affairs, his so-called arrogance his citizens whispered about? Very well, then, he’d show them how justified it was. There was not supposed to be anyone stronger than him in the entire kingdom. After all, he was two parts god and Enkidu was barely above a beast.

He can still remember the first time he'd touched an Isharitu who dwelt in a temple like this. He was twelve when one of his teachers deemed it the ripe for the young prince to partake in the fruits of womanly arts. The experience left him absolutely starving that he spent the better part of two decades hence just trying to stuff himself full again, in a way he knew was naught.

    Summary

It's a complaint that is heard up and down the Sakanaka strip mall. Well, the back of the strip. Where the customers don't go. Between the back doors of the shops and the row of half dead cedar trees over the cracked and busted wall that separates Sakanaka from the apartment complex of the Chaldees on the other side. Gilgamesh is a dick. Gilgamesh is a douche nozzle. Gilgamesh is an asshole. A bad boss. Only interested in hookups.

That is until Enkidu punches him, because yeah that happens. After that, well, it's epic.

    Summary

When the story of Gilgamesh and Enkidu's journey to the great cedar forest was told in later years, the story was always told as if it were just great Gilgamesh and his faithful Enkidu crossing the seven mountain ranges alone, but that was not how it was at all. There were fifty men and women of Uruk, and his lover's sisters besides.

Enkidu could not have said why he did what he did in the great forest. He knew Gilgamesh acted so that he might live forever. Enkidu would have wished for the story to be that Gilgamesh survived the curse of the gods and Enkidu died, but he was not any part god, and could not command how the narrative would be told.

    Summary

Gilgamesh dreaded his visits to Enkidu. Not because he didn't love Enkidu, but because he loved him so much and to be continually confronted with the possibility of a future without him was devastating. Yet, to not go, to not visit, would mean living without him, in a world of loneliness, that much sooner....
