    Summary

John Wyndham's The Chrysalids is generally held to be his best work - right up to the penultimate chapter! But the ending leaves a lot to be desired, with all sorts of loose ends. I've tried to remedy that here.
Instead of following David and his companions to 'Sealand', I start by picking up Michael from his forlorn position, 'abandoned on the tarmac' so to speak. What does he do next? Does he meet up with Rachel, and do they try to make their way to 'Sealand' by a different route? ("The world is round, so there must be another way")
And what of Mark? And Sally? And Katherine? And Sophie? Are they really dead? Is David a reliable witness of the apocalyptic dénouement in the Fringes? Is the 'Sealand Woman' really to be trusted? Did the Sealanders' flying machine really look like some sort of helicopter?
Read on to find out! You're in for plenty of surprises, the first one in the very first chapter.
Also some romantic elements - for devotees!

    Summary

This was written a few years ago for my 'create a character' project in English class after reading The Chrysalids by John Wyndham.

Early in the book, David met an unusual deviant. In this story we see how this character could have altered everything we knew, and maybe how he didn't.

Deciding to go to Sealand was the easy part.

Michael slowly returns to Waknuk, falls into company and considers whether rescuing Rachel is enough. Upon his return he has a need to begin the establishment of more formal contact with Rachel and her family. Circumstances enable this to occur and some unpleasant tasks to accomplish.

John Wyndham owns The Chrysalids and I will respect him eternally for such a powerful book. This is the beginning of my take on how Michael and Rachel may have gathered themselves for the next stage in their lives.

David experiences a series of flashbacks while sweeping his living room floor. Set 1-2 days before they leave for the fringes.
Written as an ELA project with the intent of depicting the development of two opposing characters' development on a particular theme. I picked the existence/goodness of God.
