Jopson-survives-alternate-endings are fun. So here's my take on it. What if Jopson's death was stalled by a few days thanks to Crozier healing the infection in his wounded leg? This is a non-canon compliant sequel to my previous Jopson-centric Fic, Curse For Loyalty.

Edward Little did not consider himself to be a superstitious man, but there were certain things that got under one’s skin after spending more than half one’s life at sea. Then he’d read that damn paper that George had thrust upon him with a chipper, “I know you’re a stickler for scientific evidence.”

    --
Never one to believe in sailor stories about mermaids, Lt. Edward Little finds himself intrigued after reading a paper by retired captain and scientist Francis Crozier that claims scientific evidence of mermaids.

    Summary

Francis Crozier, recently returned to London from Tasmania, is in a bit of a transitional period of his life. Thomas Blanky has always been a stable anchor for him, and Blanky's coffeeshop has always been somewhere for Francis to go.

This time, however, there's a For Sale sign out front.

    This time, everything is changing.

    (Well, not quite everything.)

    Summary

“You look well in the firelight,” said Ross, his voice pleasant and hoarse from sleepiness. Crozier saw his shadow first, then Ross himself as he came around the sofa and sat beside him. His dressing gown hung loose about him. He was thin these days, thinner than Crozier liked to see him, but he still smiled.

“Your eyes are beginning to go,” said Crozier. He tossed the end of his fur blanket across Ross’ knees, the better to share the warmth. “Ann will have you in spectacles if she hears you talking like that.”

The first time Francis had seen James Ross in a dress was in 1821, when they were up North with Parry aboard the Fury.

No, James in a dress was nothing new, but all those years and all those dresses had not prepared Francis for how James appeared tonight.
