If Bruce would beat the son who’s death had broken his psyche as severely as he had tonight what was there stopping his father from doing the same to him if he slipped up and killed again. He hadn’t stopped to ask why Jason had shot Cobblepot. It was clear to Damian from all the video footage he’d analysed frame by frame that Jason had pulled away at the last second, clearly not wanting to kill the Penguin. How had his father missed this?

Summary
Jason never wanted to be the Knight, he never wanted to be hated by his family, never wanted any of what's come to pass. When he is mysteriously transported to a universe where the Arkham Knight never happened and he meets his doppelganger, Jason only sees how much better Red Hood's life is and he only knows one thing, he wants the other Jason's identity, relationships, his life. He wants to be the other Jason who did so well in life and didn't exist as one massive fuck up.
He doesn't hesitate to do as the voices keep suggesting and thus embarks on a deadly ploy to imitate his counterpart and replace him, and this game is dangerous for everyone.

Roy blinks, uneasiness creeping up his spine. Putting down his phone on the counter, he grabs the pocketknife in his—surprise—pocket and unsheathes it, slowly heading towards his door. It’s likely that this is probably someone who wants to mess with his head, but there’s a layer of desperation to the simple phrasing of the text that gives Roy pause on his theory. Deciding to play the safe route, he keeps the knife unsheathed and pulls open the door.
