3 Works in Roger Federer/Original Male Character(s)
There is no bigger or fiercer rivalry in tennis than that of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Roger Federer is gay. But he knows he has to be in the closet to be world number one. So he is. It's the way it is.
Rafa Nadal is gay and not in the closet. He is out and proud and goes around tennis courts kissing men with tongue. And... he is world number two.
And Roger can't stand that. At all.
Or: The one where they are rivals who hate each other for real until... all that tension explotes.
(I really do suck at summaries, sorry.)
Tennis was a solitary game, a competition between two or four. It was not a game for team allegiances. But the wheels were now turning and battle lines were sketched. Sides were picked. First blood had been drawn and no one was bothering to ask why, content to stand by social contracts and play their parts. It would have been funny if it hadn’t been so vicious.
Out of everything that could have happened, Roger had not expected to be the cause for that.
Roger was about to quit the locker room for his hotel and room service when he saw Rafa's match on the television bolted to the wall. A glance at the score turned into a decision to watch this one point, which turned into a slow sinking onto the bench behind him.
