Machines were easy to understand. They always followed the same patterns, the same routines. Yara could predict what a machine would do as easily as breathing. If given a downed machine she was certain with time she could figure out every function and how it operated.
People, those were what she found difficult.
Understanding the Banuk around her had been a challenge all her life, but at least she was familiar with how they lived and behaved. At least her cousin Mor, and her friend Yash were there to help her. She knew her place in the werak. But when the Carjans come to Banuk lands under Jiran's orders, she's taken from everything she's ever known. Yara had always dreamed of venturing past the borders of the frozen wilds. But not like this.
Now she finds herself struggling to survive in a war that threatens to tear apart everything she's ever known. She must betray her people to help the Carjan resistance, support a usurper to dethrone a mad king. And uncover a plot more sinister than what Jiran has planned.

Agda Ealdordaughter is as Oseram as they come, except that she’s a girl. With an interest in delving into the Old World Ruins and building new weaponry, the last thing Agda wants is to be married off to a powerful Ealdorson in Mainspring for the strong political ties it will offer her Ealdorman father. With the Carja pushing further into the Claim and the Red Raids in full swing, she may just get her wish of becoming more than her tribe will allow, in a way she never would have hoped for. The derangement of man may truly be worse than that of the machines.
The Red Raids are in full swing. Decimated by the constant raids from the west, the Nora have managed to negotiate a ceasefire treaty with the Carja, at great cost.
Aloy is only a week out from the Proving, and she's impatient to win the boon of the Matriarchs to learn the answers of her origins. But a tacked-on condition of the ceasefire treaty promises to change her life forever, bringing her to new lands where danger lurks at every turn. Along the way, she must navigate her way through a hostile royal court, deal with her strange husband who burns hot and cold, and figure out how to execute a plot which may be her only hope of one day returning home to Rost.
Lyric saw her parents being murdered during the Mad King's Red Raids. The chieftain of a powerful werak took in not only her, but a newborn thirst for revenge that poisoned the inmost roots of a once naive girl's heart. Far away from Song's Edge, deep into banuk territory, she is trained the ways of her tribe. Endure. Survive. Never again would she be helpless. Never again would she cry out of fear - only out of spite.
When the word of a growing rebellion in the heart of Meridian reaches Ban Ur, Lyric awaits trial. The same man who raised her among her own deems her broken - and, hoping there's someone beyond banuk borders that might mend her inner wounds, sends her as a spy to the lands of the Carja. Fueled by hate alone, Lyric is determined to carve in blood a path to the Sun Palace in exchange for the lives taken from her people and herself - but new allies in a whole world she has never seen before will make Lyric question if there's still forgiveness for the broken; and something else to life but revenge.
