Summary
Alec Lightwood has always been on the outside looking in when it came to love. Especially around the holidays. He watched everyone he knew be in love and be happy. But the alpha thought that he wasn't meant for love. He was meant to protect his family and the people of New York city.
That is until this Christmas. When the well known businessman and bachelor meets an omega named Magnus, who has nothing but a heart of gold, at a day care for children in lower income homes. The two start spending time together. A lot of time together. Alec learns of the bitter world that made Magnus so warm and fuzzy. Magnus learns of the hate that Alec went through to bring him here.
And the pair sees something with the spirit of Christmas. Something that is known as romance.

Summary
Love comes along when you least expect it, like a gust of wind that knocks you off your feel. You lose balance, things around you fall over and all of a sudden things have changed. You can see it now as your heart falls deeper and deeper for that one person who blew you away in the first place, you can see that maybe there is a possibility that you could live the life you always wanted to. Although, the course of true love never did run smooth.
Alec Lightwood needed to be loved more than he realised, and not for the things that everyone else saw in him, for something that actually mattered. All Magnus Bane needed was for someone to see past the hearing aids and invest in who he was not his disability.
Two people that need to be seen for reasons other than their exterior, two people that upon meeting each feel a gust of wind that shifts something within them entirely. Two people that are unknowingly ready, to fall in love. -

Summary
Alec sees the light before Clary does, and follows it to Clary's room. Jocelyn appears, and is surprised to find Alec there, not her daughter. She explains the situation, setting Alec up for a difficult conversation with Clary. He strikes a deal with Jocelyn, that in the event that Clary does use her rune power to make a new one, they punish her. So he's determined to keep her from using her powers. However, she needs to to take down Jonathan. And so he starts feeling his runes disappear. After saying some brief words to those he's closest to, he leaves the Institute.
A year later, we find Alec working a local Starbucks job, and being a student. And we find Magnus visiting the Starbucks every day that Alec is there. Alec is still wearing his wedding ring, so Magnus has hope that perhaps Alec can remember.

Magnus Bane is a mundane homicide detective in Manhattan, so he's intrigued but not perturbed when he and his partner are handed a new case involving a decapitated body oozing black goop and two unidentified persons of interest waiting in the interrogation rooms, refusing to talk.
It's a boy and a girl. Both of them are covered in silver scars and dressed in the kind of tight-and-shiny outfit you would wear to an underground club.
Magnus thinks he has a pretty good idea what happened, until the pretty boy opens a shimmering magical portal in the middle of Interrogation Room 2 and pushes him through it.
