Picks up right where season 2 ended. Miles, Bass, Charlie, and the others have been living with the Texas Rangers for the last three months, working to fight the Patriots. When ugly secrets come to light about "that night in Philly," the small Matheson clan splits up: Rachel leads a group to Bradbury to fight the Nanites, while Bass forms his own group to take out the Patriots. Two separate quests: could they be more connected than anyone realized?

Summary
Before Bass could rise from his crouch, his eyes already on Miles and the gun already lifted, firing at enemy soldiers remorselessly, Charlie reached for him again. He glanced down at her, his eyes questioning when she fisted the front of his shirt, pulling him back down to her. She struggled to rise, reaching to meet him. She didn't let him speak or second-guess what was happening before she crashed her lips against his for the very first time.
Maybe for the very last time.
He huffed in surprise against her lips, but he didn't pull away, opening to her when Charlie licked at his lips, begging entrance. She kissed him hard, trying to throw every emotion she had about this horrible, difficult, wretched, wonderful, frightening, protective bastard that had walked into her life and walked out of it too many times to count but who always, always came back.
When they broke apart after a few delirious seconds, Charlie was panting even worse, the pain building.
"Just in case," she whispered when his eyes filled with questions. "Go. Save Miles so we can get this damn thing off of me."

Summary
Regardless of the fact that Charlie Matheson makes it abundantly clear that she doesn't want any help from him, Sebastian Monroe can't help but save her life when he finds her in trouble. After that, whether she likes it or not, he's sticking around, and she ends up taking him home to Willoughby, where as they work together (alongside her family) to take down the Patriots, their feelings for each other change.
Starts 2x03 ish, finishes post-canon (disregarding the comic books).

"So, here's what we're gonna do. Doc's gonna dig that bullet out, I'm gonna hold you in place, and then you're gonna drink enough moonshine to pass out. Got it? Good." Bass nodded firmly and walked around the table to her left side. Charlie was about to pout and ask him to come back when he hopped up and sat in front of her. Wait, since when did she pout?
"I think I'm getting delirious," she mumbled.
"That'd be the pain. Just hang on a little longer, okay?"

Summary
"He doesn't... handle things well." Miles said.
Bass didn't even seem aware that Miles was there, much less talking to and about him. He'd kept his eyes locked on Charlie from the moment he'd seen her, like he was afraid she'd disappear into the smoke if he looked away. Charlie was more concerned with him disappearing at the rate he was going.
"Hi there. How are you doing?" As soon as the question left her mouth, Charlie could've kicked herself.
"I missed you," he mumbled up at her.

Summary
It's 2027. The blackout didn’t happen in 2012, although the DoD did try to use the Nanotech weapon developed by Rachael and Ben Matheson. The weapon failed, killing most of the Nanotech project team although the Mathesons escaped and continued their work.
Gradually though, small wars became bigger ones and the planet was dragged through endless and escalating conflict. From the early 20’s, rationing and conscription became part of daily existence but somehow life went on.
For Charlie Matheson, being a DoD sponsored science major in Colorado was as good as it got. She had her family, enough food and access to tech that others could only dream of. Then, she found out what her parents were doing and everything changed. Suddenly she was a fugitive, on the run, with only one person left who might be on her side. Her Uncle Miles.
