“I missed you.”
This catches Juno off guard a little, and he opens his mouth to say what Nureyev just knows is going to be more apologies, so he pushes on, “So, if it’s all the same to you, dear detective, I’d like to start spending less time on forgiven apologies and more on making up for the time we’ve lost.”
Juno nods slowly and licks his lips, probably on instinct. Nureyev stares anyway. “Okay. Cool.”

There is nowhere for either of them to run, no doors for Peter to leave open when he needs to get out. And sometimes the need still stirs restlessly in him, because everyone he has ever loved, he has left.
So if he wants to stay, if he wants to stay and try and love like it’s a choice rather than a feeling, which part of him is the lie?
Juno has faced his demons. Peter tries not to look at his.

Summary
Following their conversation at the end of Man In Glass part 2, Juno stays over in Nureyev's room but can't seem to get to sleep. His brain won't just shut up and leave him alone, things are still so uncertain between him and the thief asleep beside him... and the Carte Blanche is nothing like sleeping in neon-drenched, noisy Hyperion City.

Summary
Something in Juno’s chest twists and the feeling is somewhere between comforting and terrifying. It’s… nice, he supposes, to be cared for like that, but he’s gone so long without it that now he’s not quite sure what to do with it anymore. On one hand, he doesn’t want to be a burden, doesn’t want to force someone- anyone, really, but especially Peter, when everything between them still feels so fragile sometimes- to take on his bad days on top of their own. On the other, though, Juno’s sure he's on the brink of falling apart with the weight of everything he thought he’d finally managed to get past suddenly crashing back down on top of him, and he’d rather like someone- anyone, again, but especially Peter, to hold him together.

Peter Nureyev. Peter Nureyev was a mess, hopeless and weak. He put back on the mask of Rex Glass, replaying Rex’s memories, momentarily it was better.
Then pain brought him back to Peter Nureyev.

Nureyev let Juno say his piece, and while it did take quite a lot of the weight off this chest over the matter, these were still some very large gaps in Juno's story.
That is, until Rita sends him a file full of grainy videos.

Legend holds that the crew of the Carte Blanche is made up of the most skillful, cleverest, boldest humans in all the galaxy.
Well, legend is a little mistaken on one of those fronts. It's not the skill — every member is well-practiced, trained from a lifetime of necessity. Nor the cleverness, though it certainly manifests itself in different ways. Bold is true as well, for sure, and they're most definitely in the galaxy, to the dismay of aristocrats and big pharma.
It's what remains that's the catch.

Summary
Not long after the Zolotovna job, Juno and Peter are sent to meet with an old contact of Buddy's. Trouble is, when they get to the meeting spot, no one meets them, and they're stuck on an asteroid in some forgotten part of the galaxy with no weapons, no comms, and no way to get themselves out of there.

Summary
"Good evening." Peter smiles at me, sharp teeth poking past blood-red lips. That smile promises secrets and safety, danger and forgetfulness. I hate that I know exactly how it would feel pressed against my own, my jaw, my neck, my shoulder.
Focus. "What are you doing, Ransom?" I ask, the words coming out harsher than I would have liked.
He raises an eyebrow delicately. "Am I not welcome here? If not, I can leave.” He turns to the door, taking half a step toward it. “I'm sure you know how that feels, leaving."
I let air whistle out through my teeth. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that- of course you're welcome here. I just was...surprised." I tighten my hold on the dress, taking the solid texture of the fabric as an anchor. "Please don't leave," I say finally, feeling more vulnerable in that moment than I had all day.OR
i wanted them to dance and be happy let me have this please.

“If I left with you, back then, we would have destroyed each other. Or, at least, I would have destroyed you. We- We’d be like fireworks. Amazing to look at, but burned out quickly, and if handled in the wrong way, we would have set everything on fire.” Juno stopped talking for a moment, took a deep breath. He clutched at Nureyev’s hand now and looked up at him. There were tears shining in his eyes.
“And now, Juno? Do you still think we’d destroy each other?” he asked softly.
After the disaster that was Zolotovna's auction, Peter and Juno start to mend their broken relationship.

"I don't know why you would keep this silly thing." He mutters. The hardness in his voice cuts Juno like glass. It's been like this since he joined the Carte Blanche, these sharp edges. While he can't say he doesn't deserve it, it still hurts the same.

A slight canon-divergent ending to Man in Glass.

Summary
“Yes, come in, come in.”
Nureyev had launched himself into a sitting position the moment he heard the knock on the door, and was now trying desperately not to look like he had just been curled up on the bed, still half dressed in Monsieur Dauphin’s regalia, waiting- no, wishing- no, preparing for the eventuality that this knock would probably come. Well, he supposed he couldn’t do much about his state of dress, but he could at least school his expression into something neutral instead of the one of anxiety- no, hope- no, anticipation that had slipped onto his face the moment he heard it.
Juno Steel opened the door.
