1 Work in Paris is Burning (1990)
Dorian Corey was a drag performer in 1980s New York. She was one of the founding members of the vogue movement that Madonna would later co-opt, ran a clothing label and was featured in the 1990 film Paris is Burning.
After she died from AIDs in 1993, a body was discovered in her closet, wrapped in leather and doused in baking soda. It was estimated the body had been there more than fifteen years.
This poem is for her.
