Although, this story isn’t about the woman who learned her lesson or the man who raised the woman’s child. Instead, this tale is about the child, and how she learns to have faith in humanity and love herself. Who knows? Maybe, she’ll find a happy ending.

"M-mom? Mom, wake up! Mom!" Four-year-old Midoriya Izuku sobbed over his mother's body. All he remembers is being in pain. More pain than he'd ever felt before. His mom hugged him, and he blacked out. He had no idea what had happened. That is, until he felt something brush his back. His shirt was torn to shreds, sticky with blood. To his amazement and horror, there were four tentacle-like things protruding from in between his shoulder blades. He's seen other kids get their quirks, but nothing like this. Wings, longer fingers, and explosions were the most memorable to him. But this- this was terrifying. The ends seemed to be needle-sharp, and they got darker as you got closer to his body. The tips were a bright red, fading to burgundy, and then an almost-black color where his skin and the tentacles met. Now numb, the small boy walked over to his room, where the body of his dead mother lay. Not knowing what to do, but wanting to get Inko's body out of sight, he took his comforter off his bed, laying it over her as best he could. He didn't know where to go, but he had an overwhelming urge to run. He couldn't stay here, not anymore.

Even though Izuku's father was constantly out of the picture his presence always took its toll. Izuku’s father was sending them letters, it was a bit outdated but his mother loved these romantic gestures.
As Izuku grew older, the letters stopped arriving as frequently as they used to be. From at least one letter per month, it dropped to almost none per year.
Normal letters stopped coming but the one Izuku anticipated the most, never did. Like a clockwork, a letter and a small gift were always waiting for him on Christmas morning.
