2 Works in Panic - Lauren Oliver
A series encircling life post the game of Panic we see being played; delving further into the world and characters, and the longer-lasting seeds Panic plants long after the end of the challenges. Some one-shots, some part of a longer story.
Normal, North Carolina is a dead-end town. Once you're there, the most popular way to leave is behind Kaz Caldwell's house, where his parents tend the local cemetery. The second most popular way to leave is Panic - a game of great risk and even greater reward. Quite like the cycle of life and death, nobody knows exactly when Panic first began or who started it. But every year graduating seniors put their lives on the line for a chance to leave Normal and never look back. There can only be one true winner, but there is much to gain from a game like Panic. If not money, then a lesson learned. A chipped tooth. A spilled secret.
Everyone walks away with something. It's just not always their life.
