3 Works in Olivia Lane (Neighbours TV)
Love is in the air for Xanthe and Yashvi after a day at the zoo leads to confronting the past, understanding the present and embracing their future... individually and together.
“Why do you cut the roses, mommy? They’re so pretty, why do you cut them?” Olivia asked
“Because we don’t want them to grow too much, they’d be all over the place, and they wouldn’t be so pretty then, now would they?” Her mother answered.
“Oh.” Olivia didn’t understand why wild and unruly and free flowers wouldn’t be pretty, but she didn’t say anything.
Olivia was twelve when her mom told her “You're as pretty as a flower.”, she was thirteen when she realised that the world was cutting her too, killing little bits of her until she fit into who she was supposed to be. Not wild or unruly. Definitely not free.
The first time Diana met Zoey was at the park playing jump rope, a mess of bouncing light auburn hair and huffy breaths.
Zoey had stopped jumping when she saw her. “Do you wanna play?” She asked.
“Okay.” Diana said, and she would never be alone again.
When Diana last saw Zoey she was leaving her house, a masterpiece of silky auburn hair and painted cheeks.
“Do you want to come to the party?” She asked.
“Nah, I’m good.” Diana said, and she would be alone forever again.
